Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Stibr (ranked 23660 p4p, 0 weight class) and Markus Kiivi (ranked 4934 p4p, 458 weight class). Tomas Stibr has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Tomas Stibr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Markus Kiivi!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stibr lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kiivi pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
No joy there for Stibr, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Stibr throws a leg kick which misses Kiivi's front leg but catches the back leg as Kiivi tries to avoid it.
Kiivi slips a jab and a cross from Stibr.
A head kick from Stibr lands but Kiivi takes it in his stride.
Kiivi avoids the head kick by Stibr.
Stibr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kiivi's waist but Kiivi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stibr off to one side.

Kiivi pushes Stibr up against the cage in a clinch.

Stibr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Some wild striking there from Stibr.
Kiivi misses with a head kick.
Stibr misses with a combination

and Kiivi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stibr's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kiivi wants to pass the guard but Stibr is keeping the position.
Stibr avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kiivi would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Kiivi tries to free his leg and advance position but Stibr is retaining full guard.
Stibr can't keep his opponent in guard - Kiivi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kiivi throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Well, if Kiivi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kiivi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kiivi wants to stand up but Stibr is controlling the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kiivi throwing shots but Stibr is blocking nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stibr is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Stibr lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kiivi circles away quickly and effectively.

Kiivi shoots in and gets a takedown into Stibr's guard.
Kiivi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stibr swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kiivi wanted to stand there but Stibr had control of the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiivi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kiivi scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Kiivi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Stibr working a defensive guard here.
Kiivi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stibr controlling Kiivi's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
No joy there for Stibr, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kiivi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stibr was covering up waiting for the punch and Kiivi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kiivi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Stibr is breathing heavily.
Kiivi is looking to stand up but Stibr won't let him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kiivi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Stibr seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Kiivi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stibr works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Markus Kiivi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Stibr throws a left and a right that both miss

and Kiivi counters by clinching up.
Kiivi tries for a takedown. No joy.
Kiivi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stibr walks away with a smile on his face. Kiivi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Stibr moves in looking to clinch but Kiivi pushes him off.
Stibr misses with a few strikes there.
A combination from Stibr does no damage.
Kiivi was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Stibr misses with a double jab.

Stibr feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kiivi thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Kiivi seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stibr stands up from Kiivi's guard - Stibr perhaps looking for a knockout.
Kiivi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stibr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kiivi somewhat.
Tomas Stibr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Markus Kiivi.

Kiivi takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Markus Kiivi has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stibr fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tomas Stibr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stibr circles away from the clinch attempt.
Stibr throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kiivi misses with a few strikes there.

Stibr takes the fight into the clinch.
Kiivi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Stibr avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kiivi tries to break free but Stibr pushes him back against the cage.

Kiivi is looking to clinch but Stibr is avoiding it.

Kiivi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Kiivi closes the distance and clinches.

Stibr manages to break the clinch.
Stibr misses with the combination.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kiivi throws a hook but Stibr blocks it.
Stibr throws a sloppy head kick and Kiivi moves out of range easily.
Sloppy strikes from Stibr. Those never looked like landing.
Stibr swinging wildly here.

Stibr gets caught napping as Kiivi dives in and scores a takedown. Stibr manages to retain guard.
Kiivi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Kiivi wants to pass the guard but Stibr is keeping the position.
Stibr being controlled here, momentarily.

Kiivi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Stibr is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kiivi, into his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kiivi looking for subs off his back but Stibr has passed one foot through into half guard.
Markus Kiivi has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stibr is trying to control the action in half guard but Kiivi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kiivi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stibr is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Stibr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kiivi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kiivi lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Kiivi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Stibr misses with a series of wild punches.

Kiivi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Kiivi sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Stibr is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kiivi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kiivi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kiivi has control of an arm but Stibr manages to advance to Kiivi's back!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Stibr doesn't have the hooks in and Kiivi manages to turn into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kiivi throwing strikes from guard but Stibr blocks nicely.
Kiivi stands and throws Stibr's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Kiivi stands up and beckons Stibr to his feet.

Kiivi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stibr to the mat! Stibr manages to get full guard.
Kiivi passes Stibr's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stibr is trying to maintain the position but Kiivi is very close to passing his half guard.
Stibr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kiivi on the ground.
Kiivi not doing much here.
Kiivi misses with a head shot. Stibr uses the momentum to regain guard.

Kiivi pushes down on Stibr's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kiivi performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Kiivi in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Stibr tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Kiivi!
