The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smithson throws a leg kick that is checked

and Fire counters with a single leg into guard. Smithson didn't expect that.
Smithson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Fire's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Fire seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Smithson for as long as he can get away with.
Fire distracts Smithson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Fire stands up over Smithson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.


It looks like Matt Smithson has been cut.

Fire's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well Fire has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
