PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Solomon Cook (ranked 3398 p4p, 43 weight class) and Duke Nukem (ranked 2062 p4p, 84 weight class). Nukem is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Here comes the boom. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nukem avoids the head kick by Cook.
Cook cracks Nukem with a good jab.
Nukem feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cooks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
It looks like Solomon Cook has been cut.
We've been informed that Nukem has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Nukem connects with a solid leg kick.
Nukem walks into a stiff left hand from Cook.
Nukem has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cook finds it's way round the side to connect with Nukem's head.

Crunch! Cook slams his shin into Nukem's torso.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cook, as that shot connected.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cook jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A swing and a miss from Nukem.
Cook fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Nukem misses with an uppercut.

Nukem tests Cook's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Cook lands a nice shot that snaps Nukem's head back.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nukem throws a hook to the side of Cook's head but Cook sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nice body punch from Cook.
Nukem throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cook clinches with his opponent.
Cook lands a nice shot to the body.
Cook blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Cook lands with a short shot to the head.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.
Cook is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Cook stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Cook definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Nukem misses with a hook from the clinch.
Cook misses with a body punch.
Cook pushes Nukem back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Nukem.
A head punch on the inside from Nukem fails to land.
Cook blocking some punches.
Cook pushes off an throws an elbow but Nukem leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.
Cook gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Still in the clinch, Cook scores with a nice short uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nukem's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Cook is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Nukem struggles to land a body shot inside as Cook controls his hands.
Nukem escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cook staying out of range there.
Cook just misses with a punch to the body.
Cook catches Nukem with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Nukem misses with a lunging right hand
and Cook counters with a straight right hand.
Cook scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Some bone on bone action there as Cook checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Good shot there by Cook.
Cook connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Nukem slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Nukem wants to slow Cook down by chopping away at his legs.
Nukem moves out of range of the body kick from Cook.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Cook swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Nukem.
Nukem throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cook sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nukem throws out a loose jab but Cook uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cook is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nukem can do to turn this around?
Nukem tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Nukem has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cook.
Cook throws a quick inside leg kick.
Cook scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
A big right from Nukem misses.
Nukem throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Cook looks low and kicks high, catching Nukem right on the side of the head, sending him crashing to the canvas! Will he be able to beat the count? 3,4,5 - he's already back to his feet and ready to go! Let's see if he's still with it!
Nukem is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cook throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The fighters circle momentarily. Nukem darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Cook.
Cook scores with a decent looking hook.
Nukem is still on wobbly legs! Can Cook finish him?
Cook lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Nukem crumples to the floor! Cook milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Solomon Cook!
Solomon Cook was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
