Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dan Maia (ranked 2720 p4p, 298 weight class) and Mauro Carnera (ranked 2057 p4p, 242 weight class). Carnera has chosen Bad Religion - Infected as his entrance music. Mauro Carnera will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Maia! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mauro Carnera! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carnera with a jab. Maia fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Carnera connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Carnera ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Carnera lands a jab to the head.
Carnera lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Carnera tests Maia's chin there with a solid looking shot. Carnera jabs Maia right on the nose. Maia blinks but takes it well. This has been an exciting period of action! Maia changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carnera tries to avoid it but Maia manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carnera to the ground. Carnera escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Carnera misses with a two punch combination.
Carnera's corner calls for a 1-2. Carnera obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Carnera lands with a shot to the body. Nice takedown defense from Carnera. No joy for Maia on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Maia. That's going to take a lot out of him. Maia takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Maia is rocked! Maia is breathing heavily. Carnera feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Maia sprawling to the canvas! Maia rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Carnera finish him?!
Oh Maia is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Carnera cracks Maia with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mauro Carnera! Mauro Carnera retains his middleweight title! An out of breath Mauro Carnera thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
