Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Steel (ranked 1430 p4p, 191 weight class) and Alexander Pichushkin (ranked 1250 p4p, 168 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 21 - 1, fighting out of New York, James Steel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Pichushkin! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pichushkin cracks the inside of Steel's front leg. James Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Steel misses with a combination
and Pichushkin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A low kick from Steel is predictable there and Pichushkin counters with a body kick that stops Steel in his tracks momentarily. Steel loads up on a big right hand but Pichushkin slips the punch. Pichushkin scores with the left hand. Steel knows he should have avoided that one. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Steel, right into the meat.
Pichushkin tries a head kick but it misses.
Steel looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Pichushkin throws a nice head kick!
Pichushkin moves out of range of the strikes. Left hook, right uppercut from Pichushkin. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Steel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A swing and a miss from Steel. A head kick misses from Pichushkin. Pichushkin fails to land with a series of punches.
Pichushkin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Steel misses with a hook. Steel misses with a low kick. Pichushkin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Steel, pushing him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Pichushkin misses with some punches.
Pichushkin fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Pichushkin misses with a hook to the ribs.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pichushkin. Steel lands a body punch in the clinch. Pichushkin blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Steel is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pichushkin pulls him back up using the underhooks. Steel wants to take the fight to the mat but Pichushkin manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Pichushkin fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Steel misses with a punch to the body.
Pichushkin pushes Steel back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Steel wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Steel. That's going to take a lot out of him. A shot in the inside from Pichushkin. Steel tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Pichushkin goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Steel blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Pichushkin misses with some punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pichushkin can't find room to land a body shot as Steel controls the action.
Pichushkin stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. A short uppercut from Steel. Steel wants to take the fight to the mat but Pichushkin manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Pichushkin swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Steel tries to circle away but Pichushkin has him pinned against the cage. Pichushkin working some nice short punches in the clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A short left from Steel. Pichushkin working aggressively here.

An uppercut to the body lands inside from Pichushkin. A quick uppercut on the inside from Pichushkin. Pichushkin can't find room to land a body shot as Steel controls the action.
Pichushkin pushes Steel back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Steel lands on the inside with an uppercut. Pichushkin misses with a short punch on the inside. Steel works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Steel postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pichushkin keeping moving, preventing Steel from controlling successfully. Steel trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pichushkin looking for a sweep. Not yet Pichushkin, not yet. Pichushkin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pichushkin wants to sweep but no luck. Steel trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Steel sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pichushkin's guard. Steel is trying to control the action in half guard but Pichushkin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Steel trying to pass the guard but Pichushkin defending well. Pichushkin tries to roll over but Steel keeps him under control. Pichushkin has a hand on Steel's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Steel takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Steel content just to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pichushkin tries to improve his position but Steel has taken his back! Steel has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Pichushkin tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Steel pushes Pichushkin away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). James Steel! An intense looking James Steel took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'I want William Wallace. That's all I have to say'.
