Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jeffry Beasley (ranked 24517 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Barton (ranked 4608 p4p, 0 weight class). Joey Barton will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joey Barton! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barton manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Beasley on his heels. He'll look to pass Beasley's guard now, I'm sure. Beasley really is a fat lump. Barton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Barton stops Beasley from standing up. Barton distracts Beasley with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Beasley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Barton is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Beasley wants to sweep but no luck. Beasley wants to get back to his feet but Barton is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Barton connects with a couple of short punches. Barton trying to control the position from guard on top but Beasley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Barton stays in close to Beasley's body and controls the position. Beasley keeping moving, preventing Barton from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Barton shoots for a double leg takedown but Beasley sprawls well. He's pushed Barton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Barton fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Beasley tries to counter by clinching up but Barton breaks away and moves out of range. Barton shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Beasley defends it nicely. Barton is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Beasley presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Barton goes for a takedown in the clinch but Beasley prevents it.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Barton keeps control of the position for the meantime. Barton actively working from the bottom here. Beasley is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Barton stops Beasley from standing up. Barton is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Beasley tries to land a sweep but no joy. Beasley wants to get back to his feet but Barton is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Barton trying to control but Beasley is working from the bottom. Beasley manages to escape and get back to his feet.
No luck for Barton with that takedown attempt. Beasley throws a counter high kick but Barton was just alert enough to avoid it. Barton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
