The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Unit avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Unit shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Warner throws a right hand that Unit ducks under and follows up with a left that Unit also avoids with ease. No luck for Unit with that takedown attempt. Warner tries to close the distance and clinch but Unit swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Horrible takedown attempt by Unit or perhaps it was just good defense by Warner, which made it look bad. David Warner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Toby Unit. That kick from Warner tenderised Unit's leg. Unit is trying to keep his angry face on. Warner doesn't manage to clinch there - Unit circles away.
Warner tries to clinch there but Unit circles away.
Toby Unit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Warner tries to clinch but Unit moves out of range. Warner buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Warner wants to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Warner throws a leg kick which misses Unit's front leg but catches the back leg as Unit tries to avoid it. Excellent takedown into side control there by Unit.
That's one minute gone in the round. Warner is pushing Unit's head away, looking to escape. Unit manages to hold on to the position though. Unit thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Warner wants to get back to his feet but Unit drags him back down. Unit looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Unit tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Unit has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Unit is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Warner is trying to escape and Unit transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Warner is forced to tap! Nice work there by Unit! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Toby Unit!
