Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pierre Dawson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gary Callen! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Callen gets a takedown into half guard. Callen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Dawson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Callen wants to stand but Dawson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Dawson wants to get back to full guard but Callen has mounted him! Callen lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
It looks like Pierre Dawson has been cut. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dawson is looking to get to half guard. Callen controlling from the full mount. Callen prevents Dawson from getting the reversal.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dawson is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Callen has taken his back! You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Dawson breaks Callen's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Dawson chips away with some ground and pound. Callen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dawson's guard. Callen pushes down on Dawson's leg and manages to get into half guard. Callen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dawson is just riding it out for now. Callen eventually gives up the hold. Callen keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Callen scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Dawson is looking to improve his position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Callen working the head and body with strikes. Dawson is looking to get back to is feet but Callen passes into side control.
Callen cracks Dawson with a big right hand but Dawson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Callen takes a little break here. Dawson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Dawson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Gary Callen dominated that round. The cut man is working on Pierre Dawson's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Callen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Callen lands with a punch from half guard. Dawson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Callen prevents Dawson from improving his position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Callen passes to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dawson is looking for a sweep. Callen swings around for an armbar but Dawson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Callen's guard. Callen pulls Dawson in close to his closed guard and prevents Dawson from doing any damage or advancing position. Callen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dawson defends it easily. Callen has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Dawson stopping the sweep attempt from Callen. Callen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dawson defends well. Dawson lands a couple of elbows.

Dawson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Callen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Let's see if Callen can do anything to dispel that myth. Callen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Callen looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Callen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Callen lands a nice short elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Callen is figuring out what he wants to do next. Callen drops an elbow to the side of Dawson's head. Dawson manages to get to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dawson has momentary wrist control but Callen slips an elbow through the middle. Callen trying to control but Dawson is working from the bottom. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Callen's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dawson has an active guard here but Callen has managed to pass into half guard.
Dawson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dawson. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Callen darts in and clinches Dawson up against the cage. Callen struggles to land a body shot inside as Dawson controls his hands.

Not this time. Callen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dawson defends it well. Callen performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dawson wants to get back to full guard but Callen has passed into side control. Callen controls the position from side control. Callen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dawson keeps working. Callen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Dawson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Pierre Dawson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A momentary lapse in concentration from Dawson enables Callen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dawson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Dawson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Callen manages to pass to side control. Callen tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
And that's the end of the fight! Gary Callen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Callen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
