These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Guido Turturro!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rishkinov lands with a shot to the body.
Turturro paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Turturro throws a hook but Rishkinov avoids it easily.
Rishkinov getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Rishkinov swats away the attempt to clinch by Turturro.
Rishkinov cracks Turturro with an open hand slap.

and Rishkinov counters with a single leg into guard. Turturro didn't expect that.
Turturro not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rishkinov cracks Turturro with a solid left hand.
Rishkinov working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

We've been hearing that Rishkinov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Turturro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rishkinov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rishkinov distracts Turturro with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Rishkinov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Turturro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rishkinov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Turturro swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rishkinov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Rishkinov stands up over Turturro, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Rishkinov is in close to Turturro's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Turturro is looking to cinch up a triangle. Rishkinov throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Turturro's body to avoid the submission. Turturro has instead reached around Rishkinov's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Turturro arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Guido Turturro! Guido Turturro retains his welterweight title!
A victorious Guido Turturro thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
Serhey Rishkinov was interviewed post fight and said 'I didn't stick to the game plan. I played his game and lost . I'll be back '.
