The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matuul takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Matuul closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rowe to the mat! Rowe manages to get full guard.
Rowe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Matuul defends well.
Rowe looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Matuul passes into side control.
Matuul working away.
Matuul stands up.
Sul Matuul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matuul throws a sloppy head kick
and Rowe counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Matuul!
Matuul tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rowe avoids the attempt from Matuul to control.
Rowe blocks Matuul's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Rowe throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rowe cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Matuul is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Matuul is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Matuul is trying to escape the mount.
Matuul tries to lock up and control but Rowe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Rowe thowing shots but they're missing.
Matuul keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Matuul keeps trying to improve his position.

Rowe throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Rowe will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Matuul avoids a series of strikes thrown by Rowe.
Rowe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rowe lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Matuul hang on?
Matuul tries to hold on but Rowe postures up.
Rowe lands a big shot there that rocks Matuul but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Matuul holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Rowe tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rowe stops Matuul from getting back to his feet.

Rowe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Matuul knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Rowe winds up and cracks Matuul with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Matuul moves into full guard.
Rowe throws a big right hand that misses.
Matuul has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rowe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rowe postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Rowe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Matuul works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Matuul wants to sweep but no luck.
Matuul is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Matuul seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rowe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Matuul not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Rowe wants to control but Matuul is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Rowe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Matuul is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Matuul seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rowe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacinto Rowe will probably get the nod.
That's time! Rowe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Matuul clinches up with Rowe and pushes him back against the cage.
Matuul makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Matuul has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Rowe is trying to keep an underhook but Matuul manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rowe manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Rowe lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Matuul is on top in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Matuul is continuing to stall.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Rowe has his foot on Matuul's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Matuul works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Matuul shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rowe napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Rowe gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Rowe wants to hold on but Matuul pushes him away.

Matuul postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rowe looks a forlorn figure.
Rowe is rocked!
Matuul with shots to the head and body - Rowe looks very uncomfortable down there.
Oh Rowe is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Matuul lands a big elbow - Rowe is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Rowe is forced to tap out!
