Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kwin Griffin (ranked 3878 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Lackey (ranked 5799 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan Lackey will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kwin Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ryan Lackey!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lackey shoots in for a double leg but Griffin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Griffin looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Griffin shoots in but Lackey avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lackey with the counter takedown but Griffin avoids it easily.
Lackey throws a series of punches but Griffin avoids them all with ease.
Lackey misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lackey shoots in but Griffin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lackey explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lackey.
Kwin Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Lackey.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lackey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Griffin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lackey somewhat.

Lackey explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
The crowd cheers as Lackey lands an impressive looking overhand right. Griffin doesn't seem phased though.
Lackey tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Griffin swivels and escapes.
Griffin seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Lackey throws a nice inside leg kick.
Griffin swats away the attempt to clinch by Lackey.

Lackey lands a slapping body shot.
Lackey goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Lackey misses with a double jab.
Lackey tries for a takedown but Griffin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
As Lackey tries to get set, Griffin tries to push him back and clinch up but Lackey manages to avoid the attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lackey tries to close the distance and clinch but Griffin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lackey doesn't manage to clinch there - Griffin circles away.
Lackey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Griffin pinned against the cage. Griffin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Griffin tries a head kick but it misses.

Griffin sneaks out the side door and pushes Lackey away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Lackey shoots in but no luck this time.
Lackey closes the distance and clinches up with Griffin, looking for a takedown. Lackey pushes Griffin against the cage but Griffin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Griffin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A lull in the action here as Griffin stalls from top position.

Griffin decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lackey to his feet.
Lackey takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Nice straight punches there by Lackey. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lackey.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ryan Lackey will probably get the nod.
That's time! Griffin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Griffin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Lackey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Griffin blocks a head kick by Lackey.
Lackey throws a head kick that misses.
Lackey shoots for a double leg takedown but Griffin sprawls well. He's pushed Lackey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Griffin jumps guard but Lackey turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Lackey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lackey goes for a double leg but Griffin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Griffin continues to drive forward.
Lackey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It looked like Griffin was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Lackey.

Lackey fails with an attempt to clinch.
Griffin appears to be looking for a big counter.
Lackey goes for a double leg but Griffin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Griffin continues to drive forward.
Kwin Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Lackey.

Lackey is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lackey looks to score with a jab to the body but Griffin is just out of range.
Griffin tries to counter with a takedown but Lackey is quick to defend against it.
Griffin misses with a takedown attempt - Lackey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lackey dives in and grabs Griffin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Griffin pushes down on Lackey's head and hops out.
Lackey lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Griffin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Griffin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lackey's waist but Lackey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Griffin off to one side.
Lackey follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Lackey slips a jab and a cross from Griffin.
Lackey darts in looking for a takedown but Griffin gets double underhooks and turns Lackey into the cage.
Kwin Griffin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lackey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Griffin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lackey leaves Griffin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lackey misses the shot to the body.
Lackey shoots in for a takedown but Griffin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Lackey tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Griffin defends well and Lackey ends up having to push Griffin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Lackey closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lackey tries to pull guard but Griffin forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

I was talking to Griffin's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Griffin.
Lackey is trying to break free.

Lackey tries to clinch up.
Lackey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Griffin tries to avoid it but Lackey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Griffin to the ground. Griffin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Griffin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Griffin is standing up over Lackey. Lackey looks to escape but Griffin dives into side control.

Kwin Griffin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee asks Griffin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Griffin prefers to stall for the moment though.

Griffin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lackey, who protects the arm well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kwin Griffin will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Lackey moves in looking to clinch but Griffin pushes him off.

Lackey throws a combination. Griffin tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Lackey shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lackey showed some decent athleticism there.
Griffin is looking to control Lackey's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Griffin avoid being mounted?
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lackey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Griffin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Griffin is trying to get back to full guard.
Lackey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffin keeps working.
Griffin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lackey wants to pass to mount but Griffin is defending the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Griffin slips a jab and a cross from Lackey.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lackey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lackey lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Griffin circles away quickly and effectively.

Lackey throws a nice outside leg kick.
Lackey throws a sloppy head kick and Griffin moves out of range easily.
Griffin looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Lackey shoots in but no luck this time.
Lackey wants to clinch up but Griffin keeps it at a distance.
Lackey bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Griffin's head.
Lackey stuns Griffin with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Griffin shoots in and gets a takedown into Lackey's guard.

Lackey is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Griffin is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lackey trying to keep a closed guard but Griffin is proving a slippery customer.

Griffin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Griffin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Griffin stands and steps away. Lackey gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Griffin feints and as Lackey raises his hands in defense, Griffin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ryan Lackey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lackey has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
