Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Glenn Giles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lasse Mankeli!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mankeli ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Mankeli scores with a push kick.

and Giles counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Giles.

Mankeli pushes Giles off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Giles seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Giles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mankeli wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Giles is now in half guard.

Giles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mankeli is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Mankeli pushes Giles off and scrambles back to his feet.
Mankeli keeps the fight on the outside.
Mankeli wants to land a leg kick but Giles is out of range.
Mankeli throws a sloppy head kick
and Giles makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Mankeli tries to score a power double leg takedown but Giles sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mankeli somewhat.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Giles.
Mankeli fails with a takedown attempt.
It looked like Giles was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Giles misses with a double jab.

Mankeli moves into the clinch successfully.
Mankeli is pressed up against the cage. Giles has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mankeli down to the mat. Mankeli avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mankeli fakes the leg kick and cracks Giles in the body.
Mankeli lands with a kick to the temple. Giles shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mankeli will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mankeli looks winded!

Mankeli clinches.
Giles tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mankeli just stands there and leans against the cage.

Giles ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Giles no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Giles is looking to stand up but Mankeli isn't so interested in that idea.

Mankeli throws a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lasse Mankeli dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mankeli dives in and grabs Giles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Giles pushes down on Mankeli's head and hops out.
It looked like Giles was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Mankeli swings away with a body shot that misses
and Giles counters with a three punch combo that has Mankeli backing up. Mankeli nods at Giles to acknowledge the strikes.
Mankeli shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Giles pinned against the cage. Giles gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mankeli fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Glenn Giles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lasse Mankeli.
A head kick misses from Mankeli.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Giles shoots for a double leg takedown but Mankeli sprawls well. He's pushed Giles's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Giles tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mankeli swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Giles counters with a two punch combo.

Mankeli pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mankeli stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Giles.

Giles stuffs the takedown attempt from Mankeli. Mankeli gets slowly back to his feet.
Giles throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Giles is looking to break free of the clinch but Mankeli has double underhooks.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Giles has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mankeli uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Giles is working an open guard so Mankeli takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Giles is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mankeli's half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mankeli is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

It looked like Giles was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Mankeli.

Giles gets tackled into the cage by Mankeli. Mankeli maintains the clinch.

Giles jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mankeli walks away with a smile on his face. Giles gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Giles. Mankeli shrugs it off though.

Giles tries to pull guard but Mankeli holds him up against the cage and eventually Giles drops back down to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
