Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andres Cardoso (ranked 4702 p4p, 0 weight class) and MIchael Adams (ranked 6538 p4p, 0 weight class). Cardoso comes to the cage accompanied by Sepultura - Refuse/Resist. MIchael Adams has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Andres Cardoso's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andres Cardoso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, MIchael Adams!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cardoso rushes Adams and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Adams ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Adams no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Cardoso is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Adams is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Adams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adams wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Cardoso is now in half guard.

Cardoso is controlling the pace.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cardoso connects with a nice short shot to Adams's temple.

Cardoso is trying to work for a kimura but Adams is defending well.
Cardoso tries to pass the half guard into mount. Adams knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cardoso is controlling the pace.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Adams has hold of Cardoso's hands but Cardoso slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Adams tries to get to full guard but Cardoso has control of the leg.
Cardoso stalling.
Adams has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA Los Angeles. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Cardoso has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Adams is looking to control Cardoso's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Adams avoid being mounted?

Cardoso is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Cardoso is trying to work for a kimura but Adams is defending well.
Cardoso wants to stand but Adams has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Cardoso missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cardoso not doing much here.
Adams wants to sweep but Cardoso has passed to side control!
Adams wants to control but Cardoso postures up.
Cardoso trying to control the position but Adams is working away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cardoso wants to control for a moment but Adams uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cardoso throws a series of punches but Adams moves out of range.
Cardoso is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Adams can do to turn this around?
Cardoso slips a jab from Adams.
Cardoso fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Adams throws a sloppy head kick and Cardoso moves out of range easily.
Cardoso tried to counter with a leg kick but Adams avoided it.
Cardoso misses with a wild body shot.
Adams wants to counter with a clinch but Cardoso pushes him away.

Cardoso clinches up with Adams and pushes him back against the cage.
Adams is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Adams tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cardoso smiles and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Adams looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Andres Cardoso overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Adams tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cardoso.
Adams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cardoso. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cardoso is trying to get back to full guard.
Cardoso is looking to control Adams's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cardoso avoid being mounted?
Adams wants to stand up but Cardoso is controlling the position.
Cardoso is looking to escape.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Adams looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Adams scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Cardoso looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cardoso has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Adams is working away from the top position though.
Cardoso is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Adams doesn't manage to clinch there - Cardoso circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Adams enables Cardoso to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Adams manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Cardoso is standing up over Adams. Adams looks to escape but Cardoso dives into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cardoso controls the position.

Cardoso tries for a kimura but Adams is defending well.
Adams is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Cardoso asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Adams tries to bench press Cardoso off him but Cardoso keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cardoso slows the pace down.
Adams is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Cardoso has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Adams is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Andres Cardoso will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Adams throws a big counter head kick but Cardoso avoids it with no problem.

Adams trying to control the position from guard on top but Cardoso is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cardoso is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Adams rolls with it to try and escape but Cardoso cranks on the arm and Adams is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Andres Cardoso bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
