Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brice Richardson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Easter Roby! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richardson fails with the takedown. Richardson clinches with his opponent.
Richardson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Roby has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Richardson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. A short body shot lands from Roby as the two fighters clinch.
Richardson tries to pull guard but Roby won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brice Richardson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Roby gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Richardson is looking to escape. Roby seems to be looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roby controlling the action here. Richardson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Roby on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roby stops Richardson from getting back to his feet.
Roby looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Roby looks winded! Ground and pound from Roby.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Roby moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Richardson. Richardson is not content to let Roby control the position. Roby connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Richardson some visible discomfort.
Roby moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Roby trying to control the position but Richardson is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richardson is looking to reverse the position. Richardson seems a little lost for a moment, as Roby dominates the positioning. Roby tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Roby goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Richardson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Roby's guard! Nice work there by Richardson! Roby lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Richardson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roby pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Richardson is keeping the position for now. Richardson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Roby slips nicely into half guard. Roby performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Roby is trying for a kimura here. Richardson looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Roby wins by kimura!
