Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Soul Makossa (ranked 5052 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Smith (ranked 2403 p4p, 0 weight class). Makossa's entrance music is SOUL MAKOSSA 2.0. A fine choice. Smith is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Therion - Sitra Ahra. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makossa drives through and clinches with Smith against the cage.
Smith breaks from the clinch.
Makossa misses with a takedown
and Smith counters with a head kick. That will keep Makossa thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Makossa.
Mike Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Makossa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Makossa off to one side.

Makossa is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Makossa is working for a kimura but Smith is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smith is not content to let Makossa control the position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Smith lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Smith lands a nice leg kick that just misses Makossa's sensitive parts.
Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
No luck for Makossa with that takedown attempt.
Makossa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smith was covering up waiting for the punch and Makossa finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Smith is looking to control Makossa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smith avoid being mounted?
Makossa works his foot free and advances to mount.
Makossa wants to control the pace but Smith is squirming around nicely.
Makossa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Makossa is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Smith connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Makossa shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Makossa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Makossa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Makossa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Makossa throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

That kick from Smith tenderised Makossa's leg. Makossa is trying to keep his angry face on.
Makossa shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Makossa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith gets caught napping as Makossa dives in and scores a takedown. Smith manages to retain guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith wants to sweep but no luck.
Makossa working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Makossa postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Makossa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Makossa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.
Makossa controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Makossa wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Makossa gets to his feet. Smith looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Makossa manages to avoid it.

Makossa's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Smith connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Makossa scrambles back to his feet.

Smith cracks Makossa with an open hand slap.

Makossa tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Makossa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Makossa somewhat.

Makossa with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Smith to score with a decent uppercut.

Makossa dives in for a single leg takedown but Smith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Makossa walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

enabling Smith to counter with a crisp jab.

Makossa tries to keep at a distance but Smith has taken the fight into the clinch.
Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Smith counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Jeez, Soul Makossa's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Smith lands a hook that stumbles Makossa back into the cage. Smith follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Makossa to the canvas! Smith pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Makossa has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Mike Smith!
Mike Smith really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Mohito Fightwear (Laundry) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
