Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Mati Karppinen (ranked 24026 p4p, 0 weight class) and Meng Tonga (ranked 6693 p4p, 0 weight class). Meng Tonga acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Mati Karppinen! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Meng Tonga! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Karppinen is looking to clinch. Tonga is looking to take this fight into the clinch. As Tonga tries to get set, Karppinen tries to push him back and clinch up but Tonga manages to avoid the attempt. Tonga shoots for a takedown but Karppinen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Karppinen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Karppinen (4) vs (0) Tonga Karppinen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tonga is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. A lull in the action here as Karppinen stalls from top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tonga is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Karppinen off and has taken his back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Karppinen (4) vs (4) Tonga Tonga looking for the choke but no joy.

Karppinen tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Tonga can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Karppinen is looking to escape. Karppinen defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Tonga. Karppinen wants to control but Tonga is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karppinen slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Tonga is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Karppinen defends it well. Tonga is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Karppinen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tonga. Karppinen keeps control of the position for the meantime.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Karppinen is pressing down on Tonga's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Karppinen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Karppinen (6) vs (4) Tonga Tonga escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Karppinen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Tonga is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Karppinen works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tonga is looking for a sweep. Karppinen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Karppinen passes to full mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Karppinen (9) vs (4) Tonga Tonga is in all sorts of trouble here.
