Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Muerte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giant Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Muerte!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Giant Silva!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Muerte has time to react.
Silva takes a swing at Muerte's ribcage but misses.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Muerte changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Muerte manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Muerte takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Silva lands with a straight right. Muerte didn't see that one coming.
Silva fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Muerte manages to avoid it.
Muerte tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Muerte scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Silva wants to control but Muerte postures up.
Silva gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Muerte has control of Silva's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Silva regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva can't escape the position.

Silva defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Muerte.

Muerte is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Silva can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Muerte. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Silva working to try and regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silva stops Muerte from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Muerte is working hard here to advance position.

Muerte working for a guillotine from mount but Silva is in no mood to give up.
Silva tries to lock up and control but Muerte gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Muerte prevents Silva from getting the reversal.

Muerte is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Muerte extends the arm and Silva is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Thiago Muerte!
Thiago Muerte retains his super heavyweight title!
