The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Punk does no damage.
Gillespie gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Punk is pushing down on Gillespie's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gillespie is fighting to maintain full guard but Punk has managed to sneak the leg through.

Punk shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Punk was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Gillespie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Punk closes the distance but Gillespie moves to the side
and Gillespie counters with a three punch combo that has Punk backing up. Punk nods at Gillespie to acknowledge the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Punk shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Punk was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gillespie throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Punk shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gillespie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Gillespie has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Punk has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gillespie has Punk pressed against the cage, preventing Punk from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Gillespie is working for takedown but Punk is calmly controlling the position for now.
