PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carter Lynch (ranked 3400 p4p, 122 weight class) and Devin Oleary (ranked 4000 p4p, 139 weight class). Lynch's entrance music is Skindred - Nobody. A fine choice. Devin Oleary will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carter Lynch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Devin Oleary!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oleary throws a series of strikes that have Lynch backpedaling.

Oleary is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lynch's half guard.
Oleary content to control rather than advance.
Lynch is trying to control but can't.
Oleary is taking a breather. Lynch says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lynch is looking to control Oleary's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lynch avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oleary prevents Lynch from improving his position.
Oleary wants to stand up but Lynch has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Oleary is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lynch is just riding it out for now. Oleary eventually gives up the hold.

Oleary looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Oleary tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Lynch squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Oleary lands a couple of good shots and Lynch has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Oleary is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lynch can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Devin Oleary has got the better of the ground game so far.

Oleary breaks from Lynch's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Lynch defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Oleary.

Oleary takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Lynch tries to lock up and control but Oleary gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Lynch is in all sorts of trouble here.
Oleary is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Lynch tries to hold on but Oleary pushes him away.
Lynch is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Oleary is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lynch can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Oleary postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Lynch looks a forlorn figure.

Oleary looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Devin Oleary showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Lynch doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Oleary counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Lynch jumps guard but Oleary turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Oleary blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Lynch has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Oleary is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carter Lynch. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lynch tries to pull guard but Oleary holds him up against the cage and eventually Lynch drops back down to his feet.

Oleary is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lynch can't fight it off and eventually Oleary manages to take the fight to the floor. Lynch looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lynch knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Oleary on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Oleary wants to get back to his feet.
Lynch is looking to improve his position.
Oleary is taking a breather. Lynch says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Lynch tries to clinch but Oleary moves out of range.

Lynch seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Oleary does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
