Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ryan Texas!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Texas tries for a takedown but Peterson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Texas.
Peterson stuffs the takedown attempt from Texas. Texas gets slowly back to his feet.
Mike Peterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Texas.
Peterson keeps the fight on the outside.
Texas connects with a good right hand that stumbles Peterson. Peterson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Peterson scores with a takedown into Texas's guard.

Texas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Peterson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Texas has a closed guard, preventing Peterson from standing up.

Peterson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Texas is proving hard to escape from.
Peterson controls from within his opponent's guard.

Texas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Peterson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Peterson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Peterson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Texas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Peterson defends well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Peterson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Texas is looking for a triangle but Peterson pushes his legs off easily.

Texas had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Peterson defends it easily.

Peterson is posturing up here but Texas has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Peterson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Peterson has to tap! Slick submission there by Texas!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ryan Texas!
Ryan Texas was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
