PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Jiro (ranked 1398 p4p, 165 weight class) and Sarvar Yuldashev (ranked 1707 p4p, 189 weight class). Yuldashev has chosen Gods Gonna Cut You Down- Johnny Cash as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ken Jiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sarvar Yuldashev !
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yuldashev lands a nice hook to Jiro's body. Jiro takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Yuldashev throws a poor cross that misses
and Jiro counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jiro misses the shot to the body.
Yuldashev throws a series of punches but Jiro avoids them all with ease.
Jiro keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Yuldashev moves into the clinch.

Yuldashev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yuldashev uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jiro.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jiro throws a leg kick that misses.
Yuldashev displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jiro throws out the jab.

Jiro closes the distance and pushes Yuldashev back into the cage.

Yuldashev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Yuldashev just misses with a punch to the body.
Jiro swings away with a body shot that misses
and Yuldashev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The fighters circling - Jiro throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Yuldashev now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Yuldashev throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jiro swings for the body but Yuldashev moves out of range.
Jiro misses with a right hand
and Yuldashev counters with a right hand to the body.
Jiro misses with a hook
and Yuldashev counters with a lovely shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yuldashev misses with a hook. Jiro ducked under it nicely.
Jiro is looking to counter the offense by Yuldashev and move into the clinch.
Jiro looks to land a right hand but Yuldashev moved out of range.
Jiro moves out of range as Yuldashev strikes.
Nice shot lands for Yuldashev .

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jiro changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sarvar Yuldashev dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Yuldashev 's jab looks to have found its range, popping Jiro under the eye.

Jiro moves into range and clinches up with Yuldashev .

Jiro definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Yuldashev tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jiro's elbow.
Jiro goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Yuldashev takes a shot to the head.


It looks like Sarvar Yuldashev has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yuldashev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jiro lands a lovely overhand right.
Jiro misses with a body punch
and Yuldashev counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Yuldashev misses with a shot to the body
letting Jiro counter with a right hand.
Jiro swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Yuldashev now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Jiro throws a predictable looking body shot
and Yuldashev counters with a straight right hand.
Decent striking displayed by Jiro there.
Jiro misses with a body shot.
Jiro misses with a jab to the body
letting Yuldashev counter with a right hand.

Jiro feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Yuldashev sprawling to the canvas! Yuldashev rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Jiro finish him?!


That has opened up Sarvar Yuldashev 's cut even more.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yuldashev throws a shot from downtown. Jiro moves away and avoids it.
Sarvar Yuldashev seems to be getting the better of the standup.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jiro has closed the distance and engaged Yuldashev in a clinch.
Jiro scores with a shot to the side of Yuldashev 's head.
A short right from Jiro on the inside.
Jiro tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Jiro misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Jiro has Yuldashev pressed against the cage, preventing Yuldashev from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Yuldashev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jiro cracks Yuldashev with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Jiro has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Yuldashev to stand back up!


Yuldashev is rocked!


The cut above Sarvar Yuldashev 's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Ken Jiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jiro shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Yuldashev takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Jiro sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Yuldashev bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ken Jiro!
Sarvar Yuldashev spoke after the fight, saying 'I respect my opponent. I'll be back.'.
