Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Daniels (ranked 5881 p4p, 542 weight class) and Kaikoa Aripua (ranked 4292 p4p, 481 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Daniels! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kaikoa Aripua! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daniels lands with an uppercut that bounces Aripua off the cage and back into range. Daniels misses with the combination.
Daniels lands with a right hand. Daniels uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Aripua.
Daniels lands with a nice combination. Aripua backs away looking to recover. Dan Daniels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Daniels throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Aripua unleashes a big counter combination but Daniels bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Daniels scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Aripua doesn't seem bothered though. Daniels moves into the clinch. Aripua drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Daniels pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Daniels throws a series of punches but Aripua avoids them all with ease. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Daniels lands a nice shot to the body.
Aripua shoots for a takedown but Daniels saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daniels tries to clinch but Aripua moves out of range. A punch combination from Aripua misses. Nice shot lands for Daniels. Aripua shoots in looking for a takedown but Daniels manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Aripua's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Dan Daniels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaikoa Aripua. Daniels gets in close and instigates a clinch. Aripua is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Daniels pulls him back up using the underhooks. Daniels breaks from the clinch.
Daniels throws out a powerful jab. Daniels pushes Aripua up against the cage in a clinch. Aripua lands a shot to the body. Aripua turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Aripua manages to end up in side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Aripua swings around for an armbar but Daniels sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Aripua's guard. Aripua looks winded! Aripua can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Daniels controls the pace. Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Sydney inform us that Aripua has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Daniels stands up from Aripua's guard - Daniels perhaps looking for a knockout. Daniels drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Aripua right on the button. Aripua goes down! Daniels follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Daniels gets the win via TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dan Daniels! A very excited looking Dan Daniels made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. Kaikoa Aripua was interviewed post fight and said 'Unfortunately i could not pull off the victory i was hungry for, but all credit goes to the man who beat me, but one day we will face again and god will grant me the strength to overcome and achive victory '.
