The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to clinch up.

Shelby's coach down at Cozad The Island was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Shelby's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Shelby throws a quick inside leg kick.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Shelby circles away.

Silva rushes Shelby and presses him up against the cage.
Silva misses with a short punch on the inside.
Silva misses with a hook from the clinch.
Silva lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Shelby.
Shelby is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Silva pulls him back up using the underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shelby can't find room to land a body shot as Silva controls the action.
Shelby blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Shelby pulls Silva into guard.
Silva trying to stand up but can't free himself from Shelby's guard.

Shelby had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Silva defends it easily.

Silva wants to get up but he can't break Shelby's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Silva has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Silva trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Shelby has his hands on Silva's head, controlling the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Shelby has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Silva doesn't defend quickly enough and Shelby has managed to lock this one up! Can Silva escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Shelby on a fantastic submission victory.
