Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Khalabib Nurmy (ranked 921 p4p, 130 weight class) and Bill Newton (ranked 1273 p4p, 177 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Khalabib Nurmy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 20 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Newton! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Newton drives through and clinches with Nurmy against the cage.
Newton has a couple of punches blocked by Nurmy.
Nurmy goes for a takedown in the clinch but Newton prevents it.
Nurmy pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. A short right from Nurmy. Nurmy has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Newton avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Nurmy has been working on his balance at Westside Martial Arts, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Newton. Nurmy swings wildly with an uppercut but Newton uses good head movement to avoid it. Newton gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Nurmy regains guard.
Nurmy has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Newton off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Nurmy jabbing away but nothing is landing. Newton is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nurmy slips a straight right by Newton. Nice defenses there by Newton. Newton closes the distance and clinches. Newton lands a body shot. We've been informed that Newton has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Nurmy misses with a hook to the ribs.
Nice body punch from Newton. Nurmy goes for a takedown attempt but Newton pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Khalabib Nurmy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Newton connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Nurmy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Newton manages to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newton lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Nurmy loads up on a big right hand but Newton slips the punch. Newton throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nurmy was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Nurmy takes one to the side of the head.
Nurmy clinches up against the cage. A short uppercut from Newton. Newton manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Newton lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Nurmy trying to control the position.
Nurmy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Newton is one step ahead there. Nurmy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Newton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Newton looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Newton advances to full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nurmy really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Nurmy is working hard here to advance position. Newton is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Nurmy is surviving well by controlling Newton's body position as best he can. Newton with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Newton looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Nurmy is working to get back to half guard.
Newton looking to secure an arm triangle but Nurmy defends it well. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Nurmy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nurmy defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Newton. Newton has hold of Nurmy's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nurmy manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Newton looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Nurmy is looking to get to half guard. Newton jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Nurmy manages to avoid the submission attempt. Newton tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. You can see the frustration on Nurmy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nurmy is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Newton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nurmy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Newton. Newton is trying to work for a kimura but Nurmy is defending well.
Nurmy is looking for a sweep. Newton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Nurmy trying to control but Newton postures up.

Nurmy works his way to full guard. Good work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bill Newton dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Newton displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nurmy. Newton is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Newton lands a head shot. Nurmy misses with an uppercut. Newton saw that one coming. Newton tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Nurmy doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Nurmy darts in looking for a takedown but Newton gets double underhooks and turns Nurmy into the cage. Newton uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nurmy.
Newton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nurmy tries to get back to half guard but can't. Newton swings around for an armbar but Nurmy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Newton's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nurmy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Newton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Nurmy working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Nurmy preventing the sweep. Newton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nurmy working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Newton's head. Newton looking to control.
Newton has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Nurmy should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Newton has tightened it up now! Nurmy should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
