Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between George Patton (ranked 5757 p4p, 411 weight class) and Cung Wo Par (ranked 3621 p4p, 313 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Patton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Cung Wo Par!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patton misses with a lunging right hand
and Par cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Patton cracks Par with an open hand slap.


It looks like Cung Wo Par has been cut.
Par moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Par thuds a left hand into Patton's body.
Patton misses with a straight left.
Par throws a lazy right hand but Patton sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A punch lands to the side of Patton 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Patton needs to keep his hands up - Par had a free shot at his head there.
Par throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Patton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Par slips a straight right by Patton.
A telegraphed right hand from Patton misses the target.
Par misses with a looping left.
Patton was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Par feints a jab promting Patton to slip. Par then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Patton slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Par cracks Patton with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Patton takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

and Par counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Par thows a left - swing and a miss!

Par scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Par sizes up Patton with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Par lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Par moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Oh Patton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Patton throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Par counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Patton seems to have got his legs back now.
Par moves out of range of the strikes.
Par takes one to the side of the head.
Par misses with a hook.
Par ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice uppercut lands for Par. That snapped Patton's head back.
Par lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

and Par counters with a straight right hand.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Par, as that shot connected.
Par dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Patton lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Par jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Par looks to land a combination. Patton sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Par blocks a jab.
A jab from Par finds it's way through Patton's defenses.
Patton throws a jab but it's blocked by Par.
A lazy left from Par finds it's target.
The fighters circling - Patton throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Patton throws a lazy uppercut
and Par counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Patton throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Par counters with a nice uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Par might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Par throws a hook but Patton avoids it easily.
Par stuns Patton with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Patton is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Par.

Patton ducks right into an uppercut from Par.
A decent looking cross lands there for Patton.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cung Wo Par dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Cung Wo Par's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Patton moves forwards but Par connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Par's coach down at Wookies Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Par's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Par connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Patton momentarily.
Par is pawing at Patton, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Patton's nose. Patton is badly hurt! Par pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Patton tries desperately to hold on but Par is relentless in his assault! As Patton receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Par away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cung Wo Par!
A very excited looking Cung Wo Par made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
