Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Danny Rand (ranked 5461 p4p, 403 weight class) and Edgardo Flores (ranked 25114 p4p, 466 weight class). Edgardo Flores is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Rand! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edgardo Flores! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rand gets in close and instigates a clinch. Flores is looking to break free of the clinch but Rand has double underhooks. Flores tries to break free but Rand pushes him back against the cage. Flores working hard to break the clinch. Flores is trying to push Rand away but Rand has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Flores wants to get back to striking at distance but Rand won't allow it.
Rand jumps into guard, dragging Flores to the mat.

Flores wanted to stand there but Rand had control of the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rand definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Rand had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Flores defends it easily. Rand not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Flores doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Flores manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rand is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Flores is aware though and is defending well. Flores wants to get up but he can't break Rand's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Flores avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Rand blocks a head kick by Flores.
Rand shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Flores sprawls well. Flores wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rand gets slowly back to his feet. Flores throws a head kick that misses. Flores throws a head kick but Rand moves out of range.

Rand controls the position. Flores is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rand has just dragged him back down to the mat. Rand is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Flores is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Rand tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rand has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Rand is breathing heavily. Flores is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Rand asserts his dominance and retains side control. Rand works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rand tries for a kimura but Flores is defending well. Flores is trying to buck Rand off. Rand scores with punches from side control. Flores is pushing Rand's head away, looking to escape. Rand manages to hold on to the position though. Rand fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rand wants to lay and pray for a moment but Flores keeps working. Flores wants to get back to his feet but Rand drags him back down. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Flores unleashes a big counter combination but Rand bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Rand is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Flores can do to turn this around? Rand shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Flores manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Rand drops back looking for a leg! Flores is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Flores manages to kick Rand off! Rand jumps back into Flores's guard. Rand forces his way into half guard. Flores is trying to escape back to his feet but Rand uses the scramble to pass into side control.

He's almost out here... but no, Rand gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Rand is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Flores is trying to escape and Rand transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Flores is forced to tap! Nice work there by Rand! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Danny Rand! In his post fight interview, Danny Rand started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
