Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Fuentes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Spinning Fire!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Fuentes misses

and Fire counters with a shoot takedown. Fuentes fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fire working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fire is looking to work some ground and pound but Fuentes has wrist control.
Fire landing some decent shots from guard.
Fire prevents Fuentes from getting back to his feet.

Fuentes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fire is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Fire working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Fire throws a big right hand that misses.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Fuentes throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Fire counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fuentes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Fuentes is staying active underneath Fire, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Fuentes has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Fire missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Fire sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Fuentes defending well though.
Fire prevents Fuentes from improving his position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fire in particular looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fire keeps the fight on the outside.
Fire drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Fuentes defends it well.
Fuentes throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Fire decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fuentes's guard.
Fuentes wants to stand up but Fire is controlling him.
Fire keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Fuentes's head.
Fire postures up and lands a big shot to Fuentes's brow.

Fire working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fuentes has momentary wrist control but Fire slips an elbow through the middle.
Fire is looking to work some ground and pound but Fuentes has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fire accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fire won't allow Fuentes to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fuentes thuds his right hand into Fire's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Fuentes lands a nice looking body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fuentes lands with a thumping leg kick.
Fire circles away from the clinch attempt.
Fire changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Fuentes lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Fire looks winded!
Fuentes misses with a kick to the body.
Fire tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Fire displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fuentes throws out the jab.
Pedro Fuentes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fuentes thumps Fire with a low kick.
Fuentes throws a lazy head kick

and Fire counters with a nice double leg into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spinning Fire dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Fuentes cracks Fire with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Fuentes has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Fire to stand back up!


It looks like Spinning Fire has been cut.
Fuentes moves in close and cracks Fire with a massive right hand! Fire, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Fuentes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pedro Fuentes!
