Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcellus Marcus !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mamed Khalidov!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalidov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Marcus as he jumps to the side.
Khalidov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Marcus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Khalidov somewhat.
Marcus dives in and grabs Khalidov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Khalidov pushes down on Marcus 's head and hops out.
Khalidov tries for a takedown but Marcus sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Marcus seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Marcellus Marcus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mamed Khalidov.
Marcus is trying hard to land a takedown here. Khalidov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Khalidov. Marcus does a little dance to reset his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marcus defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Khalidov.
Marcus tries a head kick but it misses.
Khalidov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Marcus did well to prevent Khalidov getting side control.
Khalidov stalling away here and it's allowed Marcus to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Khalidov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Marcus on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Marcus tries to get out of the position.

Khalidov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Marcus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Marcus is looking to stand up but Khalidov isn't so interested in that idea.

Marcus is trying to keep Khalidov in close.
Khalidov trying to stand up but can't free himself from Marcus 's guard.

Khalidov looking to sit in guard and control but Marcus gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Khalidov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Marcus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Marcus is looking to stand up but Khalidov won't let him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Khalidov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marcus . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Marcus is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Khalidov is just riding it out for now. Marcus eventually gives up the hold.
Marcus is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Khalidov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marcus is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Khalidov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Khalidov's back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marcellus Marcus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Marcus is working the ground and pound. Can Khalidov escape?
Marcus is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Khalidov can do to turn this around?

Marcus is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Khalidov is defending well though. Marcus let's go of the attempt for now.
Marcus is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Khalidov won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Marcus off his unconscious opponent!
