Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Peter Petrov (ranked 2696 p4p, 302 weight class) and Hassan Van Den Berg (ranked 3096 p4p, 335 weight class). Hassan Van Den Berg is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Peter Petrov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hassan Van Den Berg! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Van Den Berg, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Petrov shoots in and bounces Van Den Berg off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Petrov wants to control from the top but Van Den Berg keeps moving. Van Den Berg is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Petrov trying to control but Van Den Berg is working from the bottom. Van Den Berg wants to stand up but Petrov is controlling him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petrov trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Den Berg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Van Den Berg is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Petrov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Van Den Berg sprawls well initially but Petrov persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Petrov trying to control the pace. Van Den Berg is trying to escape back to his feet but Petrov uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Petrov landing strikes. Petrov trying to control the action but Van Den Berg is working from the bottom. Van Den Berg is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Petrov is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Petrov cracks Van Den Berg with an elbow. That is naaassty. Petrov grinds an elbow into Van Den Berg's temple. Petrov looks up at the clock and then as Van Den Berg takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Petrov smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Van Den Berg takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Van Den Berg wants to get back to his feet but Petrov is dominant here and he's now got Van Den Berg's back! Van Den Berg is trying to stand back up. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Petrov is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Petrov gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Petrov gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Petrov apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Van Den Berg misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Petrov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Van Den Berg but Van Den Berg pushes him off and we're back to square one. The fight moves into the clinch position. Petrov is looking for a takedown. Petrov is trying to trip Van Den Berg. He has hold of a leg but Van Den Berg is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Petrov persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Petrov is working Van Den Berg over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Van Den Berg keeping moving, preventing Petrov from controlling successfully. Petrov stands up over Van Den Berg, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Den Berg is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Petrov trying to control but Van Den Berg is working from the bottom. Van Den Berg wants to stand up but Petrov is controlling him. Petrov is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Van Den Berg keeping moving, preventing Petrov from controlling successfully. Petrov postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Petrov connects with a couple of short punches. Petrov prevents Van Den Berg from getting back to his feet. Petrov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Petrov controlling from the top position. Van Den Berg has momentary wrist control but Petrov slips an elbow through the middle. Petrov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Petrov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Van Den Berg is looking to stand up but Petrov isn't so interested in that idea. Petrov content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Petrov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Petrov cracks Van Den Berg with a solid left hand. Petrov landing with the ground and pound. Petrov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Van Den Berg's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peter Petrov dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Petrov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Petrov is nestled in close to Van Den Berg, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Petrov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Van Den Berg is staying active underneath Petrov, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Petrov trying to mount his opponent but Van Den Berg defends it. Petrov trying to control from half guard but Van Den Berg is working away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Petrov lands a nice short elbow. Petrov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Petrov is trying to control the action in half guard but Van Den Berg is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petrov working over Van Den Berg with some ground and pound. Van Den Berg looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Petrov drops an elbow to the side of Van Den Berg's head. Van Den Berg tries to kick Petrov off but Petrov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Petrov working Van Den Berg over with strikes. Petrov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Van Den Berg with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Van Den Berg is rocked! Van Den Berg is trying to escape back to his feet but Petrov uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Van Den Berg is still in real trouble! Can Petrov finish him? Van Den Berg takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Van Den Berg is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Van Den Berg seems to have recovered his senses. Petrov working the head with strikes. Van Den Berg wants to get back to his feet. Petrov scoring with punches from side control. Van Den Berg tries to escape but Petrov is in control. Van Den Berg tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petrov lands a nice shot to the head. Petrov loads up with a big shot that hurts Van Den Berg! He's pulled Petrov in close but Petrov has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Van Den Berg survive? More strikes from Petrov and Van Den Berg is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Peter Petrov! After winning the bout, Peter Petrov thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
