Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Costel Rusu (ranked 4100 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jatinder Singh (ranked 25104 p4p, 0 weight class). Rusu comes to the cage accompanied by "Deșteaptă-te, române!" by Anton Pann. Costel Rusu has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Costel Rusu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jatinder Singh! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rusu is defended easily by Singh. Singh shoots in looking for a takedown but Rusu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Singh's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Singh misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. As Singh tries to get set, Rusu tries to push him back and clinch up but Singh manages to avoid the attempt. Singh gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Singh is looking to stand up but Rusu isn't so interested in that idea. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rusu trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Singh can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rusu controls the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Singh wants to get back to his feet but Rusu is in a dominant position and won't allow it. We've been hearing that Rusu has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Singh misses with a takedown and Rusu counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rusu. Costel Rusu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jatinder Singh. Singh tries to pull guard but Rusu holds him up against the cage and eventually Singh drops back down to his feet.
Singh decides to pull guard. Rusu is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Singh wants to stand but Rusu is controlling the position. Singh looks winded! Rusu seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Rusu really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Rusu has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A slapping body kick lands there for Rusu.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A head kick from Rusu lands but Singh takes it in his stride. The fight moves into the clinch position. Rusu lands a takedown into guard.
Rusu gets to his feet - Singh follows without any prompting. Rusu misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Rusu moves into range and clinches up with Singh.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rusu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rusu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Singh wants to stand and escape but instead Rusu has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Rusu's corner is telling him to maintain position. Rusu drops back looking for a leg! Singh is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Singh manages to kick Rusu off! Rusu jumps back into Singh's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rusu sitting in guard, not really doing much. Rusu prevents Singh from getting back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rusu decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Rusu clinches. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rusu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Singh's waist but Singh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rusu off to one side. Costel Rusu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Horrible takedown attempt by Singh or perhaps it was just good defense by Rusu, which made it look bad. Singh tries to keep at a distance but Rusu has taken the fight into the clinch. Rusu breaks the clinch.
Singh tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rusu swivels and escapes. Rusu closes the distance and lands a one-two.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rusu shoots for a takedown but Singh saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Rusu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Singh tries to avoid it but Rusu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Singh to the ground. Singh escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. As Rusu backs off Singh throws a huge counter combo but Rusu manages to avoid it all. Rusu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Singh as he jumps to the side. Rusu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Singh as he jumps to the side. Singh closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rusu circles away. Rusu feints and as Singh raises his hands in defense, Rusu changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Singh can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rusu controls the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Singh is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Rusu decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Singh, up you get! Rusu rushes Singh and presses him up against the cage. Rusu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rusu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Rusu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rusu moves into full mount! Singh won't be happy about that! Singh is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rusu unloading with bombs! Rusu unloads with some shots from mount but Singh bucks and avoids them well.
Rusu cracks Singh with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Singh is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Rusu gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Rusu lets loose with a powerful body kick. Singh will feel that in the morning. This has been an exciting period of action! Rusu forces Singh back against the cage and clinches. Rusu jumps guard and drags Singh to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Singh has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rusu is proving hard to escape from. Rusu is pulling down on Singh's head to control his posture. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rusu missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rusu stays in close to Singh's body and controls the position. Singh is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rusu is controlling him.

Rusu went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Rusu closes the distance and clinches. Singh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rusu fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Singh, pushing him back against the cage. A nice left hand lands by Rusu.
Singh tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Singh wants to stand but Rusu is controlling his posture from full guard. Rusu throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Singh wants to stand and escape but instead Rusu has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rusu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Rusu's corner is telling him to maintain position. Rusu stops Singh from standing up. Rusu gets to his feet. Singh looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Rusu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Singh as he avoids it easily. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rusu is trying hard to land a takedown here. Singh sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Costel Rusu is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jatinder Singh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rusu misses with a takedown attempt - Singh sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that's the end of the fight! Costel Rusu showed his dominance in that final round. Well Rusu has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
