PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cy Cartwright (ranked 21901 p4p, 0 weight class) and Syco Souirrel (ranked 6957 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Syco Souirrel was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cy Cartwright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Syco Souirrel!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Souirrel defends well and Cartwright ends up having to push Souirrel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cartwright leaves Souirrel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cartwright shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Souirrel napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Souirrel sneaks out the side door and pushes Cartwright away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Souirrel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cartwright drops down looking for a counter takedown but Souirrel sprawls and moves away.
Cartwright avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cartwright shoots for a takedown but Souirrel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Souirrel is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Souirrel moves in looking to clinch but Cartwright pushes him off.
Souirrel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Souirrel tries to clinch up but Cartwright circles away and keeps his distance.
Souirrel shoots for a double leg takedown but Cartwright sprawls well. He's pushed Souirrel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cy Cartwright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Syco Souirrel.

Cartwright wants to work for an arm triangle but Souirrel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Cartwright seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Souirrel on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Souirrel is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cartwright scores with a couple of nice shots.

Cartwright has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Cartwright wants to free his trapped foot but Souirrel is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Souirrel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cartwright. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cartwright working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Souirrel is looking for a sweep. Cartwright is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Cartwright fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Souirrel is rocked!
Cartwright postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Souirrel badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Cartwright around the waist but Cartwright pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Cartwright is the winner by TKO! Cartwright jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
