Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alan Spence (ranked 1754 p4p, 214 weight class) and Ben Stone (ranked 22881 p4p, 514 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Stone!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spence digs a good body shot into Stone's ribs.
We've been told by Spence 's head coaches at ~T~ Troid - Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Stone drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Spence manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Stone has Spence in his guard.


Stone has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Spence can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Stone throws his legs up looking for a submission but Spence uses it to pass to side control.

Stone wants to get back to full guard.
Spence takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Spence prevents Stone from improving his position.
Stone moves into full guard.

Stone isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Spence stacks Stone on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Spence !
Stone is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Spence 's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Spence wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stone keeps working.
Stone flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Stone throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Still in half guard, Spence seems content to control.
Stone is looking for a sweep. Spence is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Stone throws a looping overhand right but Spence ducks down to avoid it.
Spence connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Spence is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stone can do to turn this around?
Stone shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Spence counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Stone thinking.
Stone shoots in looking for a takedown. Spence tries to sprawl out of it but Stone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Spence manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stone tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Spence swivels and escapes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Spence throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Stone stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Stone uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Spence .

Stone will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

so Stone counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Spence is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Spence wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Stone has him pressed against the cage.

Spence wants to break the clinch but can't.

Stone has Spence pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Spence manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Alan Spence decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
