Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Giuseppe Omni! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Krull! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Omni. No joy for Krull on that attempt. Omni stuffs the takedown. Omni fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Omni throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Omni misses with a looping right. No luck for Krull with that takedown attempt. Giuseppe Omni has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Krull. Omni misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Krull gets a takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Omni makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Omni. Krull wants to control from the top but Omni keeps moving. Krull has gone for a leg lock! Omni slips out almost immediately though and dives into Krull's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Krull has his foot on Omni's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Omni works his way back into a safe position though. Omni postures up in Krull's guard and throws a big left but Krull blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Omni working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Krull had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Omni is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Krull Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Omni's back instead. Krull looks gassed! Omni tries to roll but Krull sticks to his back.
Omni is working hard here to advance position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Omni rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Omni is looking for a sweep. Krull is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Omni slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Krull avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Omni looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Krull wants to control from the top but Omni keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Omni has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Krull can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Omni is looking to sinch up a triangle. Krull throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Omni's body to avoid the submission. Omni has instead reached around Krull's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Omni arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
