Sparks really is a fat lump.
Lightyear thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sparks's head.
Sparks tries to get to full guard but Lightyear has control of the leg.
Lightyear is keen to just control but Sparks is a slippery customer.
Sparks keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Lightyear not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson wants to clinch up but Sparks keeps it at a distance.
Sparks appears to be looking for a big counter.
Johnson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Sparks takes a head kick and shrugs it off. #CUT2#

Jack Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sparks sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Moses Sparks's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Johnson Throws a clean left jab. Johnson Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Sparks's chin! Sparks crumbles to the ground and Johnson follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Johnson!

Wild is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sparks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wild controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Wild trying to control the position from guard on top but Sparks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sparks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The Door throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sparks tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. The Door is in Sparks's guard.
Sparks working a defensive guard but The Door manages to pass into side control anyway.
Sparks takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The Door trying to control the position but Sparks is working away.

The Door is trying to get an arm triangle but Sparks is defending well.

Thurmond throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Sparks's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Thurmond dives in looking to finish as Sparks flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Thurmond's strikes! Thurmond is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Sparks's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Sparks was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
