Volland has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Brathwaite connects with a right hand. Cold shakes it off. Brathwaite gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!

Brathwaite looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Brathwaite throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Brathwaite shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Despite the aggression on Schultz's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Schultz throws a low kick, looking for Brathwaite's leg but Brathwaite calmly moves out of range. As Schultz tries to get set, Brathwaite tries to push him back and clinch up but Schultz manages to avoid the attempt. Schultz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Brathwaite.

We've been told by Brathwaite's head coaches at Outer Heaven Dojo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Suck tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Brathwaite is able to avoid easily. Brathwaite ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Suck moves away. Brathwaite pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Brathwaite misses with a wild body shot. Philo Brathwaite seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A left and a right from Suck both land. Nice combination. #CUT2# It looks like Philo Brathwaite has been cut. Suck missing with a left hand there. Brathwaite was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Brathwaite throws a right hand that misses

Brathwaite comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Brathwaite's corner calls for a 1-2. Brathwaite obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Brathwaite throws a half hearted mid kick. Diaz tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Diaz moves in looking to clinch but Brathwaite pushes him off. Diaz fails with the takedown. Brathwaite stuns Diaz with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Diaz closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Brathwaite lands a right hook to the body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Brathwaite.
Diaz has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Brathwaite. This has been an exciting period of action! Brathwaite does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick.
