Christopher Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Martin with a hook. A punch lands to the side of Bennet 's head but he takes it in his stride.#CL# Martin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bennet, pushing him back against the cage. Martin lands a hook to the side of the head. Martin blocks an uppercut.
Bennet looks winded! Martin wants to break free but Bennet has control.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Bennet has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Bennet is working for takedown but Martin is calmly controlling the position for now. Bennet tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Martin smiles and moves away.

Bennet throws a leg kick which misses Maxx's front leg but catches the back leg as Maxx tries to avoid it. #CL# Maxx gets in close and instigates a clinch. Bennet looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Bennet is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Maxx is defending well for now. Bennet is trying to pull guard but Maxx turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.#BC# Maxx breaks from the clinch.
Bennet steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Maxx. Bennet moves away from the strike by Maxx. Bennet fails with an attempt to clinch.
Maxx throws out a loose jab but Bennet uses good head movement to avoid it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bennet throws a nice outside leg kick. Maxx looks to land a right hand but Bennet moved out of range. Bennet is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Maxx walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Maxx is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Maxx leaves Bennet with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Bennet takes a jab right on the kisser.

Maxx is looking for a sweep. Bennet is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Bennet lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Maxx knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bennet on the ground. Bennet not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Steve Bennet has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Joe Maxx is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Maxx is controlling Bennet's trapped leg to prevent Bennet from advancing to side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Joe Maxx showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Maxx, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
