#R1# Almeida throws a right hand that Makaio ducks under and follows up with a left that Makaio also avoids with ease. Almeida shoots in but no luck this time. Makaio was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Makaio tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Almeida fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Almeida takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Makaio tries to clinch up. Makaio throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Almeida shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. A little jabbing left from Makaio on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Akamu Makaio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#CL2# Makaio has managed to clinch.
Makaio content to slow the pace in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Makaio digs a right hand underneath Almeida's ribcage. Almeida let out a lung full of air as it connected. Almeida goes for a takedown in the clinch but Makaio prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Almeida. That's going to take a lot out of him. Makaio struggles to land a body shot inside as Almeida controls his hands.
Makaio scores with a shot to the side of Almeida's head. #T1# Almeida being controlled against the cage.#TD# Almeida has picked Makaio up - he's going for a ride! Almeida dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Almeida is trying to control the action in half guard but Makaio is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Almeida slows the pace down in half guard. #SUB# Almeida is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Makaio is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Makaio pushes Pugh against the cage. Makaio is working some dirty boxing. Makaio pushes off with a quick right hook! Pugh goes down! Pugh tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Makaio moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
