Alviso is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bakunin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Bakunin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Alviso fails to land the takedown. Mikhail Bakunin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerome Alviso. Alviso's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bakunin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Alviso scrambles back to his feet. Alviso shoots in for a takedown. #R1# Priest ducks under a wild hook from Alviso. Jerome Alviso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alviso tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Alviso shoots in looking for a takedown but Priest manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alviso's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Alviso throws a series of punches but Priest moves out of range. A nice side step and Priest releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Priest blocks a head kick by Alviso.
A lazy left from Priest finds it's target. A low kick from Alviso is predictable there #TD2# and Priest counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Alviso trying to control from the bottom.

You can see the frustration on Priest's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Priest has found himself in a tricky position here. Monkey uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alviso. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monkey leaves Alviso with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Monkey steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Alviso misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

He's got his arms around Monkey's waist but Monkey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alviso off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerome Alviso. That's going to take a lot out of him. Monkey defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alviso. Decent striking displayed by Monkey there. Monkey lands a nice shot that snaps Alviso's head back.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Alviso has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Alviso jumps guard but Kyle turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Kyle lands with a right to the head. Kyle lands with a short shot to the head. Alviso looking for a takedown. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! I wouldn't like to be where Hanak is right now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hanak wants to control but Alviso postures up. We've been hearing reports that Alviso has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. #R1# Buck missing with a left hand there. Alviso was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Alviso seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Alviso throws a nice looking combination but Buck bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Alviso takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Alviso goes for a double leg but Buck avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Buck continues to drive forward. Buck fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Alviso has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Young Buck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alviso throws a hook to the side of Buck's head but Buck sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Buck cracks the inside of Alviso's front leg. Buck throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
