#R1##CL2# Piliang rushes Sampson and presses him up against the cage. Piliang is trying to push Sampson away but Sampson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.#TD2# Piliang decides to pull guard. #SUB2# Sampson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Piliang avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Sampson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Sampson trying to control but Piliang is working from the bottom. #SUB2# Piliang is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sampson defends well. Sampson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Piliang keeping moving, preventing Sampson from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Piliang bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sampson's guard. #REVB# Piliang showing good wrestling skills to control the position. #T1# Piliang sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sampson's guard. Sampson controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Piliang looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Piliang tries to pass to full mount but Sampson defends it. Sampson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sampson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Piliang on the ground.#T2# There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sampson trying to control here.
Sampson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sampson tries to roll over but Piliang keeps him under control. Piliang is looking to advance position but Sampson won't allow it. #T3# Sampson is looking to control Piliang's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sampson avoid being mounted?#SUB2# Piliang is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Well, if Piliang is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Piliang tries to pass to full mount but Sampson defends it. Piliang takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.#T4# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sampson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Piliang is figuring out what he wants to do next. Nice strikes from Piliang there. Piliang is taking a breather. Sampson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Sampson is looking for a sweep. Piliang is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Piliang uses his free foot to push down on Sampson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sampson. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ajo Piliang dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. #R2##CL2# Piliang has Sampson up against the cage in a clinch.
Sampson tries to score a body lock takedown but Piliang shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Sampson tries to pull guard but Piliang forces him back to his feet, against the cage. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Sampson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Piliang just stands there and leans against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drew Sampson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Piliang looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Sampson is looking for a takedown.#TD2# Piliang jumps guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sampson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Piliang is pulling down on Sampson's head. It's preventing any offense from Sampson, at least for the moment.#SUB2# Piliang pushes a forearm under Sampson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Sampson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
