As Hooper tries to get set, Velez tries to push him back and clinch up but Hooper manages to avoid the attempt. Hooper shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Velez as he avoids it easily. Hooper shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Velez counters with a big head kick but Hooper shrugs it off. Velez swings for the body but Hooper moves out of range.
Hooper darts in looking for a takedown but Velez gets double underhooks and turns Hooper into the cage. Velez appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Kent Velez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Hooper. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hooper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hooper looks for a takedown but Velez sprawls well. Velez is trying to keep his angry face on. Duke Ditch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fighters circling - Ditch throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Velez changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Velez tries to clinch but Ditch moves out of range. #CL# Velez takes the fight into the clinch.
