Larousse tries to land a sweep but no joy. #T1# Gardet trying to control but Larousse is working from the bottom. Larousse really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gardet. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gardet tries to free his leg and advance position but Larousse is retaining full guard. Larousse is trying to keep Gardet in close.
Gardet pushes down on Larousse's leg and manages to get into half guard. Larousse is looking for a sweep. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Larousse has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Larousse ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gardet moves away. Larousse changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gardet tries to avoid it but Larousse manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gardet to the ground. Gardet escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Gardet looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Larousse shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gardet as he avoids it easily. Sacha Gardet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Basile Larousse.#TD# Gardet fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Larousse to the ground. Gardet is now in Larousse's guard. Larousse wants to sweep here but Gardet controlling him for the moment. Gardet trying to control but Larousse is working from the bottom. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Larousse is on top in guard.

#R1# Gagnon throws a body punch but Larousse moves out of range. Larousse tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Larousse ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gagnon moves away. Gagnon has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Gagnon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Larousse was well out of range. Poor timing from Gagnon. Gagnon throws a wild body kick that Larousse sees coming a mile off. Gagnon connects with a single shot there. Larousse looks to land a left hand but Gagnon moved out of range nicely. Larousse takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Gagnon feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Larousse's calf. Gagnon rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
#TD2# and Larousse counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Gagnon! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Larousse working away. Gagnon is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Larousse works to advance to full mount. Gagnon defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gagnon tries to lock up and control but Larousse gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.#SUB2# Larousse is working for a guillotine from mount but Gagnon frees his head quite easily.

#R1# Ryokale slips under a jab. As Larousse tries to get set, Ryokale tries to push him back and clinch up but Larousse manages to avoid the attempt.#CL# Ryokale moves into the clinch. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Larousse has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Ryokale blocks an uppercut.

#TD2# Larousse has Ryokale pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Larousse pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ryokale tumbling to the mat - Larousse dives into Ryokale's guard. Ryokale not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Not really close to a finish though. #SUB# Larousse has hold of Suares's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Suares seems comfortable defending it but Larousse has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Suares is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Suares is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Larousse couldn't care less - he's delighted!

#R1# Larousse doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Barbosa thuds his right hand into Larousse's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.#TD2# Larousse is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Barbosa's half guard. Barbosa wants to improve his position but Larousse is controlling well.

Garcia looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Larousse content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Garcia is looking for a sweep.
