#R1# Jones misses with a wild body shot. Jones scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mendivil doesn't seem bothered though. Jones tests Mendivil's chin there with a solid looking shot.#CUT2#It looks like Ruiz Mendivil has been cut. Mendivil throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones throws a body shot but no joy. Jones throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mendivil sees it coming and avoids it easily. Jones throws a lazy right hand but Mendivil sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Mendivil looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Jones looks to throw the jab but Mendivil is out of range. Mendivil shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendivil tries to work over Jones's front leg with a kick but Jones checks it. Jones scores with a jab to the jaw. Mendivil gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Jones misses with a hook.#T1# Mendivil slips under a jab. Mendivil avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mendivil bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Jones throws a lazy uppercut
#TD# and Mendivil counters with a takedown into side control. Jones takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Jones tries to escape but Mendivil is in control. Jones takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Jones trying to remain calm as Mendivil controls from the top position. Mendivil lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Jones defending against the ground and pound. Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mendivil. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#T2# Jones is trying to escape the position but Mendivil is controlling the position. Mendivil tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Mendivil working away. Mendivil is chipping away with strikes.
Mendivil tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jones's legs. A lull in the action here as Mendivil stalls from top position. Jones is trying to work for a sweep but Mendivil has mounted him!#T3# Jones tries to hold on but Mendivil postures up. Mendivil working away from the top, dropping strikes. Mendivil postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jones looks a forlorn figure.
#SUB# Jones has left one of his arms exposed and Mendivil doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Jones screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

#R1# Temujin lands with an overhand left. Temujin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Wow, both these guys are really going for it!#CL2# The fight moves into the clinch position. Temujin working aggressively here.
Temujin swings wildly with an uppercut but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it. Temujin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A hook to the body from Jones.
Jones lands a hook to the side of the head. Temujin is trying to break free. Jones goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A right hand to the body from Jones.
A short body shot lands from Jones as the two fighters clinch.
Jones blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Jones lands a right hand. #TD# Temujin jumps into guard, dragging Jones to the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action! Temujin wants to stand up but Jones is controlling him. Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Temujin . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#SU2# Jones stands up from Temujin 's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout. Temujin on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Temujin is breathing heavily.#T1##KD2# Jones cracks Temujin with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Jones has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Temujin to stand back up!#ROC2#Temujin is rocked! Uge Temujin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Temujin - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Jones!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tournament Jones! Tournament Jones tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool. |
