#R1# Shah tries for a takedown but Hornton circles away easily#TD2# and Hornton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Shah won't be happy with that. Hornton works to advance to full mount. Shah defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Hornton sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Hornton with a couple of short strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hornton takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.#T1# Hornton moves to take his opponent's back. Hornton scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Hornton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Shah is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Hornton should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.#SUB2# Hornton is working for a rear naked choke. Shah is not defending it well and Hornton has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Shah refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Shah's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Randy Hornton! |
