Whitfield wants to control the position but Day says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Day winds up and cracks Whitfield with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Day in particular looking to stall.
Whitfield might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Day lands a nice short elbow.
Still in half guard, Day seems content to control.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Day.
Joyner can't do much from the bottom here.
Day is staying tight to Joyner's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Day is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Day tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Day has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Joyner pulls Day into guard.
Day pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Joyner is keeping the position for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Day is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
