Q & A with Caleb Smith 2

Editorial by

Hi I’m Caleb Smith and let's get straight into my Q & A session :

Question 1 from Rick O Shea-I would like to hear your views on the 5 round non title main events?
I think that 5 Round Non Title Main Events are an excellent addition to MMA, think about the past when you've seen 3 round non title main events go to controversial decisions or just exciting wars that deserve the extra 2 rounds
For Example :- Shogun vs Henderson would have ended up 3 rounds without this addition and then it wouldn't have even contended for FOTY because it would have been a one way fight without the last 2 rounds were Shogun showed his warrior heart.
But there can be some down sides as well such as Bad stylistic matchups like a Wrestler vs Wrestler or Clinch Stalling Matchup that would go on extra long.
Another great reason for this new addition is the fact that it primes fighters for future title fights and it acts as a great test for their cardio.

Question 2 from Rick O Shea-Do you think that Zuffa are stripping any credibility Strikeforce had? Do you see it becoming a "WWE" situation?
Right don't get me wrong on this I don't like the way they're going about it , the

NFC 134: Flashlighter vs Jokinen review

Nordic Fire Championship returned to the United States with a bang as NFC 134: Flashlighter vs. Jokinen showcased three hours worth of top-flight MMA action.

Eighty-eight thousand strong filled the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the company's first excursion outside Helsinki since October of 2011. Nearly 100,000 people watched worldwide via pay-per-view and the atmosphere was electric for this ten fight card, headlined by a champion vs. champion superfight between the #5 and #2 fighters in the world.

Not short of knockouts or controversial endings, the last of the preliminary card featured Jean Pierre Babin (9-1-0) facing Sampsa Siloposki (24-11-0). A world-class muay thai fighter and no stranger to the octagon, the NFC veteran Sampsa was looking to build off his first round knockout of Kosti Johannes at NFC 131. On the other side of the Octagon was the young and highly toted B

From Zero to Hero: A Roger Freedman Story

Fighter profile of Roger Freedmen by Speedy Gonzaitev

The story of the American Hero Roger Freedman starts in Columbus, Ohio where he was born to military parents who died shortly after he was born leaving the baby Roger to be taking in by the abusive, perpetual drunk ex boxer uncle who lived in a van down by the river and sold old DVD’s and VCR's to pay for gas. Roger learned at an early age to fight for the things he wanted developing a reputation of a kid who never stops coming forward unless you put him out. If he is conscious, he will keep coming after you. As he got older, he quickly became the biggest kid on the river and no one would mess with him. By the time he was a teenager, he had been in more brawls than Mankind aka Mick Foley. By this time, that abysmal uncle turned father figure began teaching him the sweet science, the art of piston like jabs and lethal combinations. Once he turned 16 he caught the eye of a down on his luck MMA manager named Alexi Zaitev. Around this same time, the intrepid uncle died of alcohol poison

Marian Pozzollo Interview

Fighter profile of Marian Pozzollo by Lyle Humphreys

Q.Hey thanks for taking the time in your busy schedule, how are things?

A.Things Are going great. I'm looking forward to my fight with Marlin McCann. It will be a hard fight but I'm up for the task in hand.

Q.You've got little more then 2 weeks left in your camp, how has it gone so far?

A.The training is going OK I'm trying to improve on my Wrestling and Boxing as I didn't have any success really in my title fight with Terrance I just went in with the wrong game plan and that is something I'm looking to work on.

Q.Is there something in particular you’re working with for your upcoming fight, any game plan?

A.Well, Like I said I'm improving on my Wrestling as I didn’t have much luck against Terrance Smith and I see Marlin has never been Submitted so now would be a good time to Snap his never been submitted record.

Q.How do you see it end?

A.The fight with Marlin will be a good fight and obviously I would like it to end in a win but to ensure that win I have to show up in the correct frame of mind and to stick to my game plan, it could go either way.

Q. You've recently lost a title fight that many thought you were way over your head calling out. After your rebound fight (that you won) you called out for a title fight again, why did you want it so bad when your last fight against the champ was pretty one sided, did you feel it only was the game plan that did you wrong in that one?

A. Ah. Yes, it wasn't really my idea to call for a title shot my Manager put that in the mix to try and get me a title fight which at the moment in time I didn't deserve one. I'm just trying to concentrate on Marlin and after that fight we will go from there.

Q.Is there anyone you´d like to thank or something you want to add before we wrap up?

A.Well I would clearly like to thank you Greg for the opportunitie

The Un-Authorized Auto-Biography of a Veteran Org Owner

Montréal Combat Championship, Fight Organization, Montreal
Company profile by Jean-Claude Désolé

It all started one day with a little light internet browsing that resulted in the discovery of fantastic website called MMATYCOON. I thought, “hey why not” and I joined April 15th 2010. Now I haven’t been here from the beginning but going on two years, I think, makes me a veteran. Nevertheless, Soon after reading the wiki’s and getting a vague idea of org ownership, I decided to buy VIP and open my very own fight org in Montreal.

The org opened in late April and the first event took place in May. I successfully managed to round up a decent sized roster with the 48k loan I took out. (I don’t know why I didn’t take the full 50). Either way, the org was on its way. I didn’t turn a profit until my 2nd event but from there it was smooth sailing. I paid back the loan in full after only having to pay roughly $800 in interest which I thought was really good. By the 10th event some of the early fighters left, a lot of new fighters joined, and I had a solid stable of fighters. Once I m

BFFL 40 Preview

Event Preview: BFFL40
Bloody Fist Fight League (xXx)
2012-02-18, London, The Underground - London
Author:Kurt Hustle

Valentines Day has come and gone and now the love is over and its back to fighting! Bloody Fist Fight League will be holding BFFL40 on 18th of Feb in the 1000 seat Underground arena in London and with the Featherweight title on the line there is a lot to fight for so let’s jump in and check out the action.

265lbs-Mark "Questions" Adams (14-6-1) vs. "Gatt" Ante Gattuso (6-8-0) .
Opening fight of the night and its shaping up to be a cracker! Adams is making his BFFL debut in this one and is a very dangerous man to face off against. With Remarkable Boxing and a Black belt in BJJ he is not to be taken lightly but Gattuso may be his match. Gattuso has Wonderful Boxing and a Brown belt making this a great match up to watch, but these two have different strategy. Adams uses his BJJ to win fights, 10 submissions so far and just 1 TKO while Gattuso uses his hands, all his 6 wins have come via (T)KO. A problem for Adams is that his Wrestling is inferior to his opponents a

OverComing 5: Nowack vs. Cheese! REVIEW

Event Review: O5: Nowack vs Cheese
Overcoming (ID 155k+)
2012-02-12, Amsterdam, The Underground - Amsterdam
Attendance:998, Event Rating:94
Author:K Rad

My sweet little dumplings, K-Rad here, undressing you with his eyes as he gives you the rundown of all the action from OC5: Nowack vs. Cheese. I know you wait for me every few days, just like you wait for that girl with the pretty hair on the bus that you enjoy sniffing so much, so here I am to give you your medicine. This was OC's 1st foray into the 1000 man The Underground arena in Amsterdam and it was a bee's dick off selling out with 998 fans with exceptionally poor personal hygiene and their own peculiar bouquet to match turning out to cheer on their favourite fighters in a night which saw previous event ratings for the organisation smashed and the true potential of this great organisation really starting to shine. That's enough of riding on @JakubWest 's (tweet tweet crackers) pole, so let's take a look at the fights:

"The Stunner" Jenna Haze vs. Chael Sonnen
Middleweight

1st up on the overcard, middleweights "The Stunner" Haze and Sonnen. The results are back and it appears Sonnen has passed the drug test so we should be seeing him fight again in the near future and after the result of this fight you can bet that is a good thing. Sonnen was aggressive straight up, allowing Haze to take the fight to the floor but the big fatty "Stunner" was unable to capitalise and as soon as he managed to roll the big lump off of him Sonnen took to his feet. Haze managed to land one nice kick whilst standing before he return to the mat, this time with the help of Sonnen's massive combination which left "The Stunner" stunned. Who would have seen that coming? Sonnen didn't let up in his assault, only taking the time to stand and then unleashing another combi

SPFT: Singh vs Trautman Preview

Event Preview: SPFT: Singh vs. Trautman
SPFT: Los Angeles
2012-02-20, Los Angeles, Hyashi's Lounge - Los Angeles
Author:Lock Down

Arshad Singh vs Willians Trautman (155lbs)
The keyboard warrior Arshad Singh is set to defend his lightweight title against the meticulous grappling sensation Willians Trautman who is a stern challenger with finishing capabilities. Trautman boasts an impressive resume of submissions, having finished all of his first seven pro fights with flashy and pin point submissions. Singh is no stranger to ground fighting as he has notched several submission victories in the past and seems content with his skills. Ring rust might be a factor as Trautman is yet to fight this year and it might take him some time to find his rhythm in the bout. He comes in the heavier opponent and will surely be looking to utilize the extra weight in any form. If Singh can thwart the takedowns and stay on the outside, he will be able to slow down his foe and capitalize on any deficiencies the challenger brings to the table.

In beautiful Finland, Suomi International is the location as more than nineteen thousand congregate for the clash of fates that is the Nordic Fire Championship. NFC 135: Tolonen vs. Da Man is scheduled for February 18th, 2012, an event headlined with a battle between the #1 and #5 superheavyweight fighters on the globe today. The action is backed up with a championship match to decide the NFC Light Heavyweight Championship of the world, along with a match between the former #1 in the world at 205 facing an up-and-comer looking to rebound from a tough loss to the current champ.

The action on the main card begins with a welterweight fight between James Kirk (13-4-0) and Waldorf Astoria (28-8-0). A still-young BJJ black belt at 24, Kirk ran rampant through NFC: Challengers and won his first three fights for the main company.
