KOTB 20: Combate (Review)

Event Review: KOTB 20: Combate
King of the Beach (270k+)
2015-12-05, Rio de Janeiro, Hayashi's Lounge - Rio
Attendance:2,000, Event Rating:152

What a landmark event we had this weekend, folks, as KOTB 20 would go on to set records in ticket revenue, rating and fighter pay. Hayashi’s Lounge would pay host to two title fights on Saturday – one of which would see a victorious challenger. Let’s get into it:

Opening the undercard was a clash at light heavyweight, as undefeated Brit, Norbert Fortenberry took on Sao Paulo’s Zico Ali. The Brazilian looked loose in the opening moments and landed a nice body punch before moving the fight into the clinch. Fortenberry would counter by jumping guard and immediately moved his legs in position for a triangle. Ali recognized it and slammed his way into side control, but the British purple belt would stay calm and recover guard before moving in on another triangle choke. The seemingly loose triangle quickly tightened and Ali was forced to tap soon after. Ali is now in a must-win situation, while Fortenberry will bring his unblemished record to his home country at KOTB Dinamite on New Year’s Eve.

Norbert Fortenberry (6-0, 2-0) defeats Zico “The Kick” Ali (3-5, 0-3) via Submission (Triangle Choke) R1 - 01:36

It was a battle of Europe at heavyweight next, as Croatia’s Mirko Vukovic took on Sweden’s Magnus

SLAUGHTERHOUSE 8 REVIEW

UNDERCARD

Craig David v Verne Robinson – 205 lbs

David did nothing to dispel pre-fight predictions as Robinson delivered a quick takedown and proceeded to dominate on the ground. With Robinson clearly looking to work on the counter early on, most of David's shot found thin air and with barely forty seconds on the clock the black belt from Manchester had taken him to the floor. Robinson showed good activity, mixing in ground strikes as he sought to improve position and at just past the three minute mark he faked a shot, caught hold of David's outstretched blocking arm and executed the armbar. As expected, a debut victory for Robinson and we look forward to seeing him fight against tougher opposition.

Result: Robinson by first round submission.

Conrad Mcgillicutty

Fighter profile of Conrad Mcgillicutty by Bjorn O'Donnel

How did your training camp go Conrad?

Smooth. I still had plenty of time to act in hollywood blockbusters, take part in gumball and fuck different women in different countries every day.

I don't sit around and let life decide how my day looks like, I decide myself what my life looks like every day.

Sounds fun!

Were you happy with your promotional debut ?

No, I wanted a war and my opponent wasn't up to it. I landed 100% of my strikes and destroyed him with it. I might change the gameplan for my fight of this weekend just to make sure that it lasts a bit longer and that I have more fun, we'll see.

You actually enjoy tough fights?

Sure, what the heck is fun about being two minutes in the cage and not even sweat.?!? I am here to try and put on a show for fans. It's not my fault my opponents don't last very long.

Do you feel a

The King of the Beach returns to Hayashi’s Lounge on Saturday, as we’ll be hosting two title fights on top of a fun card that will see the introduction of a number of new and exciting fighters, as well as some old favorites.

Bruce "Hoodlum" Lee (3-0, 1-0) v Chris "The Dragon" John (1-0, 0-0)

Our main card will open with the only middleweight fight on the card, as Chinese striking phenom Bruce Lee looks to keep his perfect record intact against Indonesian Muay Thai specialist, Chris John, who makes his promotional debut. Although both strikers prefer to use their hands, they do it quite differently. Lee is a determined combination striker who prefers to throw it all on the line in a frenzied attack in the pocket. John, on the other hand, prefers to press his opponents against the cage and grind them with a heavy, dirty boxing assault. I don’t think this one will hit the mat, so expect a spirited back-and-forth standup war to start off the main card.

Ryo "Yoshi" Takajiri (5-0, 0-0) v Lionel "wutUsay" Wright (3-3, 2-2)

Author:Yamashita Craven

Hey there everyone! It's almost time for our first event ever, this saturday - We have a lot of good matches that could go either way. For all of you with fights this saturday, here is a quick overview of your fight!

#10 Jim Thorpe v. Fred Jackson

This looks to be a close one. Both fighters are 185 pounds, and Thorpe only has the height advantage by 1 cm. This is the dubut fight for both fighters. Jackson is slightly more skilled with his Muay Thai, but not as skilled at Boxing, or Wrestling. Both fighters are equal on the ground however, so it seems the only advantage to be found may be in the clinch, for Thorpe. It might be a good gameplan to clinch when possible, in order to outperform Jackson.

Prediction: Jim Thorpe wins by Decision

#9 Destin Craven v. Alex Robbins

Another very even fight. These two fighters are both 170 pounds, and almost identical in their skill at BJJ, Wr

Org guide for noobs

Editorial by Bjorn O'Donnel

Since I became an org owner the first time, I have had probably about 100 messages from new(er) players asking me if I could sign their fighter.

95% of the time it were fighters that would have been a terrible match for the org as they were far underskilled or overskilled for the org.

To give new players a helping hand, I wanted to create a small guide to make them  understand what orgs are good for their fighters.

Types of orgs based on ID:

- Unrestricted  :

Everyone, no matter their ID ( the number behind your fighter his name) , can fight in these type of orgs. This means that there will be mostly highly skilled fighters in those orgs, so they are not ideal for a new player with a young fighter. If you have picked up a fighter from the FA list with good skills , then you can obviously sign them to an unrestricted org as well, but maybe check with the org owner first if your
