End Of An Era

Generic MMA, Fight Organization, Hilo
Company profile by Chuck Grace

I was asked to come out to Hilo, and have a short sit down interview with Reach Promotions owner Chuck Grace.  There have been lots of rumours floating around the media with Reach having decided to merge into Blitz Down Under, and it seems Mr. Grace wants to set the record striaght.  So here I find myself in his plush office with an expansive view of a beautiful beach, and the Pacific.

Despite his reputation as a bit of a joker he's all business when it comes to Reach.  I decide to begin our interview.

Interviewer - "So Mr. Grace I guess we can being."

Chuck - "Yea.  Well as you know I asked you here today so I can clear up some confusion regarding this merger."

Interviewer - "Ok that's understandable.  So how did this all come together?"

Chuck - "Well I'd like to start a little farther back then the initial merger talks.  Before we get into that I wanted to just to, first off, thank anyone who has any part of making Reach what it is today.  From the janitor who mopped up the cage post fight, to the fighters, and their management staff.  I am truly grateful to each of you, and I hope they all understand this merger is what I felt was in e

Brutal FC 7 Lecter vs. Krushev Main Card Review

Event Review: BFC 7 - Lecter vs. Krushev
ACME - Brutal FC
2012-06-16, St Petersburg, Hard Knocks - St Petersburg
Attendance:3,000, Event Rating:163
Author:The Beatles

Saturday June 16th BFC sold out 3000 tickets for their tenth fight card and boy was it a night to remember.

Heavyweight Bout
Elbrys Gora (7-1) vs. Uster "Killer" Best (8-11)

Round 1:Gora opens up with a quick takedown into guard but doesn't get much off and gets stood back up withen the first minute. Gora then scores another easy takedown into guard but again isnt able to do anything with it so he stands back up and scores with yet another takedown right back into guard. Gora stands up yet again and best comes forward with a powerful jab that cuts Gora right above the brow and Gora easily reaches out and dumps Best on his back and Gora is in guard yet again. Best throws his legs up looking for a few submissions but Gora uses this to move to half guard. From there both fighters are looking to break each others arms but Gora is able to stay on top until the first round comes to an end.

Round 2:Best comes out aggressive and lands a left before shoo

Point fighter Joe Laynpray talks about how he isn"t boring

Fighter profile of Joe Laynpray by Paul Huntington

This week Bellum fighter Joe Laynpray sat down and gave an interview on “The Smasher’s Club” internet radio program. Laynpray is fresh off a victory at Bellum 66: New York Bash – the promotion’s first event outside of Los Angeles. The interview was much like one of Laynpray’s fights, it dragged on much longer than it should have, there wasn’t much excitement, and Joe was in control pretty much the entire time. We’ve taken the liberty of cutting out the majority of the interview and printing Joe’s answers to questions that have plagued him over the course of his career.

On accusations that he is a boring point fighter who makes the fight a wrestling match.

“I do what I’m good at, I wrestled at Pitt in college. I know people think Oklahoma is THE place for wre

Ascension 3 Million Tourney Round 1 Part 2 Preview

Event Preview: Ascension 96 : 3Mil Part 2
Ascension
2012-06-24, Los Angeles, LA Memorial Colossuseum
Author:Speedy Gonzaitev

This hasn't been the best of weeks for yours truly but I am going to get it out to get this last preview done! Its time for the Ascension 3 million tournament part 2! We have long time former undisputed p4p king Jeremy Tonal in our main event, he is also the undisputed favorite to win this thing. Without further ado lets get to the fights!

Opening Bout
Jackson vs Goldsmith
We get this card started in the 185 division with two well round fighters looking to climb the ladder in the 185 division here at Ascension. Jackson enters the cage with exceptional boxing, wonderful muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Opposing him is Goldsmith with exceptional boxing, superb muay thai, wonderful wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Neither of these fighters are particularly good anywhere, both having been finished by strikes and submissions before. Jackson does hold a significant experience advantage which I think will carry him to a decision victory.

Thomas vs Gambler
And now its tournament time folks! We has the winless Thomas going up against a boxing and wrestling machine in Gambler. Thomas is definitely going to want to keep this fight standing so he can utilize his sensational boxing and muay thai. But his wonderful wrestling and bjj purple pale in comparison to his opponents grappling skills. Gambler has sensational boxing, wonderful muay thai, sensational wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Gambler hits really hard and nobody wants to be on the receiving end of those punches. Thomas is a real unknown as to how he will preform so I am

"The Genie" Sudipta Kar (3 – 1) (3 – 0 KOC) VS "The Nightmare" John Morrison (6 – 1) (2 – 0 KOC) - *Title Fight*

In the main event of the evening the current champion Kar takes on his toughest test yet for his 1st title defense in the experienced grappler John Morrison. Morrison is a jujitsu expert who relies on ground and pound to soften up his opponents for a submission while Kar just prefers to ground and pound his opponents unconscious. Kar's only loss was in his professional debut against a brown belt so he should look to maintain top control and not get over-aggressive where he might get caught in a submission. This fight could go either way, it really depends on the game plans that the fighters choose to bring into the cage.

"The Professor" Arturo Rojas (4 – 0) (3 – 0 KOC) VS Stock Pile (5 – 0) (1 – 0 KOC)

Two undefeated fighters are putting their records on the line in the co-main event in an attempt to make a statement that they are top contenders. Although I suspect Rojas to make quick work of the 5 – 0 Pile.Pile relies on taking his opponents down and that's what Rojas excels at defending, he is very hard to takedown and even harder to hold down. Combine that with his strong kicks that should slow Pile down and this fight is over before it begins. The teacher turned mixed martial artists Arturo Rojas should continue his reign.here in KOC and continue to work his way to a title shot.

Muay Thai (3 – 1) VS Milad "Jihad" Yaku

Fighter profile of Lyndon Jones by

Getting to know " The Smashing Machine" Lyndon Jones (141367)

Hey everyone its that time again,  I had the chance to talk to " The Smashing Machine" Lyndon Jones (141367), it was a very interesting conversation,  so lets see what the only rival to the big green hulk smash had to say.

Wilson:  Hello Lyndon, I would like to thank you for your time I hope you are well.

Lyndon:  No problem, I am very well thank you.

Wilson:  Lyndon can you tell me how you got into MMA?

Lyndon:  I actually got into MMA because I was bored doing the other training I was doing, I guess when a guy like me gets bored he has to smash someone.

Wilson: So you Smashed the homie?  When did you start MMA? Tell us a little about your career.

Lyndon:  haha, I don’t kiss and tell….I started MMA when I was 25, I got a bit of a late start compared to others I didn’t start training until I was 25, I lost my first professional fight, but after that I went on a 9 fight win streak, im actually really pissed that I didn’t win 10 straight, and now im looking to get back on track, I have fought all my fights in London I enjoy my people it’s a great city with great fans.

Wilson: I cant imagine how that would feel winning 9 straight and having the expectations and feelings of a 10 fight win streak snapped.  I hope you get the chance to do that again.

Now I could have sworn I saw you the other day helping an old granny lady cross the street were my eyes mistaken or?

Lyndon: Oh yea that was me, im a good guy Im a smashing machine by night but humanitarian by day, Im always helping old ladies cross the stree

Original Revelation Generation [O.R.G]
2012-06-22, London, The Underground - London
Author:Ceasar Tomson

This Friday night at the doors close and the crowd settles down and waits for the first fighter to hit the cage. The world will be preparing itself for another epic card from the O.R.G. Many cards have been brought to you from the underground, now this one will make the effort to surpass them all. The first fight of the card will be-

155lbs Jose De Souza v Albert Steptoe

I don’t know what to say about this fight. On one side we have De Souza 10 fight losing streak and Steptoe a 4 fight losing streak. De Souza looked tiered at the weigh ins and Steptoe just looked nervous. Many of reporters asked these men if they would retire if they lost and neither man gave a straight answer but if they do one will go out with a win.

155lbs Jp Benn v Viljo Suokas

JP Pennhas been making quick work of his fellow 155lbs’ers he has only lost one recently and has been knocking out and taking names. I think that he knows what he’s doing in this one and will set up with the jab and work the hook to his advantage. Suokas on a 6 fight losing streak trying to make a comeback and really not scared to pick a fight with someone who has been doing work. I admire what Suokas is doing and trying to not challenge an easy fight and going to make a name and throw his hat back in for the title.

205lbs James Moony v Richard Burgess

Valhalla 66: Tokyo Preview

Event Preview: Valhalla 66: Tokyo
Valhalla: Tokyo
2012-06-23, Tokyo, Saku Dome
Author:John Bravo

Gooood evening ladies and gentleman, this is John Brawler bringing you a preview of Valhalla 66: Tokyo. I have to say, I'm pretty excited about this upcoming card with an expected 7000 screaming fight fans looking to fill the Saku Dome this saturday the 23rd of june..Some big fights happening on this one and very high expectations from fighters and their fans. Lets get this preview under way shall we?

Sanjay Singh (0-0) vs Frank Mir (1-0) 205lbs

First off we have Sing in his debut fight against Mir, witch he'll be looking to win and impress the management of Valhalla. He's a wonderful wrestler and it looks like his stronger game but we can see he's been working on his standup skills so we could see him looking to trade strikes with Mir. Mir has feeble standup skills but a medicore ground game, he's pretty much well rounded at everything but not great at anything. He has 1 win via submission in his amateur career with his blue belt so he'll have an advantage if Singh takes him to the ground.

Reem Davey (2-1) vs Hayden Hitman (1-1) 265lbs

Davey really is a remarkable boxer and a proficient wrestler going 2-1 in his amateur career and his only loss coming from a controversial UD loss to Hiro Oshioki. Davey will be looking to stand and bang with Hitman and maybe work some dirty boxing in the clinch. Hayden Hitman would have respectable standup skills with a bit of wrestling history as well as just earning his bjj blue belt.. I think hi
