MAIN EVENT Welterweight Title fight: Dynamite Glove (13-4) vs. “Captain Armageddon” Bruce Alvarez Banner (23-11-1)
Last night when Dynamite Glove & Bruce Alvarez went to war, we didn’t know what to expect! Odd-makers had the champion favorite but in MMA, you just never really know. Bruce came in and executed perfectly, attacking Dynamites weak points in the clinch & scoring takedowns. He never gave Dynamite chance. You could visibly see the frustration on his face as he was forced to work off the cage constantly & fend off take downs. Bruce absolutely shut down the champion until he was able to get the GnP finish in the 3rd. We now have a NEW Welterweight Champion! Who will be able to deal with such a tactician on the ground & a meticulous strategist in Bruce? Only time will tell. I think we’ll see him at the top for a while. As for Dynamite, he’ll have to climb back up the stacked welterweight ladder. We’ll see if those are his future plans.
CO-MAIN EVENT Bantamweight Title Fight: Alberto “Gunslinger” Lopez (19-9) vs. "Korean myrkkykääpiö" Hae Ki Park
In our Co-main event, Champion, Alberto Lopez successfully defended his Bantamweight title against Hae Ki Park. Albert used his reach very well on the outside & controlled the pace of the fight. I don’t think Hae Ki Park could really adjust & get comfortable. Each time he felt in trouble, he resorted to clinching his opponent which did little to nullify Albert’s aggressiveness. It seemed Albert had an answer for everything which is a credit to his preparation! Hae Ki hung in there for 5 rounds which shows how tough he is but it was just a bad night for him. He just needs to re-evaluate his training & come back stronger. Alberto certainly put on a show for the fans which earned him a 100% rating. We’ll see what’s next for him; maybe a fight with Kirk Boom is in the works. As for right now, he can relax & go party!
Welterweight Fight: Roy “Mean Machine” Keane (16-13) vs. Nelson Muntz (8-1)
I tell you something about Nelson Muntz…what an INCREDIBLE fighter! He came in with a purpose & made a statement last night, stopping Roy Keane in just over a minute. This man is no joke as evident by his 8 knockout wins. You can tell Roy was out of the fight as soon as he tasted Nelson’s power. He was never able to get off really, as Nelson’s aggressive/technical striking overwhelmed him. Man, I love watching the little guys go at it. You don’t think they have power because of their small frames but they definitely pack a punch! So Nelson improves his record to 9-1 & slowly moves up the Welterweight ladder. Look out Bruce, this guy may be your next challenger…
