What's up Tycoon Times' readers? I am Chaos69, and this is my first time to write for Tycoon Times.
The upcoming BFO card is without a doubt filled with "well known" names, but despite the firepower that it suggest, I believe the card is filled with upcoming, but inexperienced fighters.
The card's main attraction would be the Heavyweight clash between 2-1 Brock Lesnar, against the 2-3 Valdimir Sokolov for the 265 lbs. title. The champ Sokolov is coming off his first round-TKO win over his budding rival, Frank Mir. While the challenger, Lesnar is coming off back to back Submission victories, after losing his MMA debut. Sokolov is armed with a wonderful wrestling base, together with his ever improving striking, and KO power. On the other hand, Lesnar is also capable of taking the fight to the ground with his remarkable wrestling, complimented by his Purple belt in BJJ.
Writer's Prediction: Both men are competent wrestlers, but I believe Lesnar will expose Sokolov's weak ground game and submitt the Champion.
The co-main event features Ricardo "The Terror" Alvarez against undefeated Robert Drysdale. Alvarez is an experienced fighter looking to bounce back from his previous TKO loss against John Couture. Drysdale is an impressive up and comer, posting back to back submission wins againt Chael Sonnen and Cyrille Diabate.
Writer's Prediction: Drysdale would once again look for the early submissions, but I believe Alvarez' wrestling and BJJ would neutralize his foe's attacks. I say Alvarez by TKO in the later rounds.
Alexander "The Mauler" Gustaffson vs Chael Sonnen features two fighers who just made their debuts, but went on two different paths. "The Mauler" came out victorious in his debut with a unanimous decision victory, while Sonnen suffered a submission lost via armbar.
Writer's Prediction: Gustaffson has a a far more impressive stand up game, but I beleive Sonnen would take hit to the matt and pound his way to a UD victory.
The last bout features Thiago "Pitbulk" Alvez, pitted against Mike "swagg" Lie. Both fighters are coming off horrendous losing streaks-with Alvez yet to get a W next to his name. "swagg" on the other hand, has not displayed the swagger that his moniker suggest, and has lost 21 of his last 22 bouts.
Writer's Prediction:
I see Alvez getting his first MMA win via a lackluster unanimous decision victory.
