 BFT - 238 Review

Light Heavyweight - The former BHFC Light Heavyweight Champion and Promotional newcommer David Nuclear knocks out the former Right Pound Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio "Shogun-Rampage" Rua with strikes at 2:41 in round 3.

This one started at the distance and Nuclear was alright with that. He was throwing kicks like he was a football player. Rua kept diving in for takedowns, but it wasn't until after the 3 minute mark that he actually got one. And the ref stood it a few seconds later. The round ended on the feet with Rua a little more active, but Nuclear was still in control. By the time the second round got started, David looked cool calm and collected. Rua tried desprately o get the fight taken down, but Nuclear was having none of it and was able to keep a dominant offensive up. They clinced it up a little at the end, with Nuclear still looking dominant there. Rua needed something big in the last round to make the fight his. Nuclear brought the fight back into the clinch in the third. He was landing some nice short punches before a big knee cut Rua open. Some more short punches rocked Rua. He looked for the takedowns some more, but he didn't have enough to drag Nuclear down. A huge uppercut all but puts Rua away.

What's next for Nuclear? I'm going to say a few rounds with Master Enki would provide equal amounts of entertainment from both sides. Trinidad Suarez would make a nice scrapper vs wrestler fight. If he's really looking for a step up in competition. He could go for Titus Kahoohalphala to try and strike a claim of dominance over the most recent title contender.

Lightweight - Long time BFT fighter and one time title Challenger "Douser" Johnny Woo submits a guy who had 3 BFT bonuses in 2 BFT showings Suneet "Boro" Chandler with a kimura at 38 seconds into round 1.

Not too much to say about this one. Woo got the takedown early. Chandler went for a sweep then submission, both of which failed. Woo got his hands on a kimura and was able to crank it too tight for Chandler.

What's next for Woo? I think he's still a few wins away from another title shot. A rematch with "Stoneface" Vimes could provide answers on how much he'ss grown since the title shot he had. Malaipet Sasiprapa also seems to have been on a tear in BFT. Smells like those two could make a good number one contender match.

Co-Main - Welterweight - The former BFT Middleweight Champion and Former BFC Welterweight Champion Akihito "Rikiya" Tatsuhiko Jr Unanimous Decisions promotional newcommer and the two time former UPD-H Welterweight Title challenger Oktawian "The Ceasar"August.

This one started off with Tatsuhiko doing exactly what he wanted: the takedown. Akihito worked on the transitions and ground and pound before getting back up for a bit. He landed a punch and took one before taking another takedown. August wasn't able to ward off the takedown was getting worked over once more. Althought it didn't seem like it was too much, Tatsuhiko was certainly able to work over August and do some nice damage to him. The second round got started and it looked like there was going to be more of the same. Tatsuhiko got the takedown and even went for an armbar before getting back up. Oktawian took advantage of the fight at the distance this time and was able to land a few more shots that seemed to get to Akihito. A big big uppercut was able to cut Akihito and another solid right hand rocked him. Tatsuhiko was back peddling for a while before he was able to gather his thoughts together and dragg the fight back to the mat. Tatsuhiko was not able to bring up the offence that August had, while down there and it like Akihito was the one who rode the round out here. The third round got started and Tatsuhiko was taking some shots that definately hurt. He dove down and took the fight to the mats again. He was working on the ground and pound, but nothing seemed to really phase August. That being said, August was not able to really put anything together on the mat. It wasn't until the round was just about up that that August was able to get up. August tried to finish things off, but the bell rang and the judges gave rounds 1 and 3 to Tatsuhiko.

What's next for "Rikiya"? He's certainly doing good work on making his way back to the title. I wouldn't say he's there just yet with Sharp getting the title. Jake Shields or Damian Nitschke would be a good shot to see how good the submission defence is holding up. On the other hand, Super Hans doesn't have a booking yet... and I know that at least I have been curious about how these two would match up.

Main Event - Light Heavyweight - A former Cfa Light Heavyweight Challenger and currently on a 4 fight winning streak "Oziel" Nicandro Aloisio KO'ed a man with two impressive KO victories in two BFT performances Kova "the Tank" Tangis at 2:40 in round 1.

Aloisio had some sharp words for Kova earlier this week in his interview (Which was in the last paper incase you missed it) and it seems like they were not miss placed. Aloisio had things controlled at the distance and in the clinch. Tangis tried to get the takedowns from the clinch, but he didn't have the "Oziel" to take Nicandro down. A solid series of knees cut Kova open, but it was the short punches from the clinch that told the story there. Aloisio was landing shots like a Diaz brother before jumping in with a leaping lead hook that sent Tangis straight out of there. I mean that almost literally. I think that if there wasn't a cage there, he may have been launched into the arena.

What's next for the Mexico native? I don't think he's quite ready for the champ just yet. That being said, there aren't too many people as highly regaurded as himself down at 205. There's the chance for Master Enki or Mauricio Rua, but I'm not sure how that would fair. He did mention a move to 265 in his interview, and there a few fighters I think he should fight that are up there. "Big Nog" Nogueira would be a great challenge, especially given his incrediablt 12-2 record. Frank Mir would also be a great challenge up at Heavyweight. The point is, the kid has options and plenty of them.

Undercard:

205 - Now riding a 5 fight winning streak, Jose "Polvo" Gusmero submit then riding a 4 fight winning streak "The Best" Wolf West with a kimura at 2:57 in the first round.
